Default ANYONE have this problem before??

I have been on Met since Sept. 2001 and just this month it has stopped working and I'm on CD61 today!! (saturday)

It has always worked well for me and my CD's are usually between 30-40 days. What should I do? I have continued to take the Met like I am supposed to but it's still not working.

HELP!!!!

Sorry to hear that Torie! My cycles have been regular on Met now for about 1 1/2 years- lucky for me- it has stayed pretty much the same since I "got" regular once starting it.

Good Luck cyster- hang in there

It stopped working for me after about 1 1/2 years. I am hoping the switch was due to going from name brand to generic... but my doctor says sometimes it does just stop working. I hope that's not so. i have been back on the name brand for 5 days now and i think it may be too soon to say this but... my hair seems to be falling out less! or maybe i was just running out of hair to lose... I'm on BCPs again so I won't know if my peridos are back until I go off them... planning to do so in early Jan. (Flying cross country for new years and I am afraid of flying, I figured I'd get screwed up again anyway so I may as well stay on the pills...)

Are there any big stresses in your life now?

I just thought of something else- if the met/gluc no longer works- maybe you need a higher dosage? Just a thought- maybe something to talk about with your doc...good luck!

Well I have no insurance until Jan 1st so I can't ask my doc until then. I could self med. and up my dose to 2000, which is what I was before but stopped when I lost insurance and had to conserve my met! LOL

Torie~ I would also say up your dosage. Especially if you were getting af on 2000 mg before. Met does not really bring on af for me. When i started it a couple years ago i had one period and then another never came. I upped my dosage to 2000 in Oct and had another period. Haven't had another one but hoping one will come.
Take Care,
Jodie

Thanks Ladies!!

I guess I'll start back on 2000mg when we get closer to the start of our insurance. I went down to 1000mg at one point just to conserve my Met since I stocked up on it before we lost our insurance!!

I appreciate all the info and advice!!

W/O insurance this is a problem. I was going to suggest going to the doc to get u on progesterone. I am also on cd62 today and have been on progesterone since 11/23. I hope af shows up on her own for you.

There is NO WAY I could possibly be pregnant....not in this lifetime anyways...I promise you!

Although I love your thinking!!

This is the weird thing though. My fourth month of Clomid for some reason I didn't ovulate. The first 3 months remember I was like the O queen with P4's of 30-58!!!! Then for some reason it doesn't work???

So my next cycle comes (after the no O on Clomid cycle) and I have the HSG and now no period ever since...let alone an actual O!

Why oh why .......... **Sigh**

P.S.

Cathy I have some Progesterone Cream that I used once a few months back, think I should use it again??? It brought a very light and short AF though.

SarahV & CTCyster-

I have no idea why it would just stop working. I am hoping this isn't the case. My doctor said that she has had women start to have cyclkes, 5-6 weeks apart, expect things to get even better... and then the gluc just stops working. That's what happened to me. But I have the generic switch working against me so, who knows? Wait & see...

As for upping the dose, I am going to ask at my next visit. I have gone off BCPs so hopefully in a few months I will know whether or not things are working again... I really don't know what my new doc's gamleplan is if the meds don't start working again. I really don't want to try another insulin med because of the risk of weight GAIN... i don't need that!

Torie - I just read a response from you in another post about taking your meds all in one dose instead of three times a day...Do you think this could be part of your problem? Try spacing it out again and see if it works better for you!

Hey Summer.... actually I JUST started doing this about 3 days ago. I never knew you could do it before until I read a post from someone who does it.

I have been taking 1 pill at lunch and the other 2 at dinner before that though, but I was starting to get forgetful again!

Torie, I think that person that takes hers all at once was on Gluc XR which is time release, regular met is not time release. With regular met it's better to take it evenly spaced so it's even in your bloodstream.

I know you don't have insurance, but can you scrape up the money to just buy the met so you don't have to "stretch it"? I filled my prescription already. It was 60 pills, 500mg each. My co-pay was $5, but the full price was only like $17.
