Hi ladies, my doc wants me to take synthriod, I don't have a problem with my thyriod function, but I do have two nodules on my thyriod, so my doc wants me to take the synthriod in hopes of making the nodules smaller. So I fill the script, but now I am scared to take it because of all the side effects I read on the insert. Just wonder if anyone on it has had any bad side effects. Also anyone taking met with the synthroid as well?

Before my BFP- I was on met and synthyroid. I'm still taking the synthyroid with this pregnancy. The only side effects I've had - Hair coming back, the lump on the back of my neck vanishing and having energy to do things-- not to mention dodging my typical 9 week miscarriage (due to lower thyroid function). Nothing bad at all actually. =) If a dr prescribes a script they have their reasons. Try it and if something starts to bother you talk to your doctor about it.

Hahahaha oh.. yes you can have the extra hair i'll probably get because having really really thick hair is very annoying

I have been on synthroid for a couple of months now. I went to my primary phys. because I was always tired..more than normal and just felt blah. She said my thyroid hormone was a little low and perscribed the Synthroid. I have had no 'negative' effects with it. I have noticed the hair(head) has gotten bacl to almost normal..which is great. I think I may need an increased dosage, as after about 6 weeks the effects are less apparent now...energy levels seem to be dropping as my body adjusts. I would definitely say give it a try.

I've been on synthroid 2 1/2 yrs after having my thyroid removed. When TTC I was also on met & clomid. You just have to make sure you don't take ANY other meds with synthroid.
I've never had any s/e from synthroid either. I've been very lucky. The only thing is now that I'm pregnant I've had to go back to my endo. every 6 wks for bloodwork & my dose has been increased every time. Which they said is normal & should decrease once I give birth.

Thanks for your responses ladies they are very helpful!!

Wannabmomma- what do you mean about not taking any other medication with the synthroid. I take a few other medications so now I am a little worried about that. I started the synthroid yesterday, so I am hoping that everythings is well.

Sorry I didn't make that clear LOL
Don't take any other meds at the same time as you take the synthroid. I take mine as soon as wake up & then no other meds or any food for atleast 30 min afterwards. Food & certain meds can block the absorption of the synthroid is why they say to wait. I take my prenatals at night & anything else (tylenol, etc) whenever as long as it's 30 min after the synthroid. HTH!

Thanks I understand now, I'm glad you let me know that, because I was taking it with all my other pills except my heartburn medication. That was the only thing the leaflet that comes with my medication said to do.
