Post Anyone have Type I diabetes?

I have Type I diabetes (diagnosed in my mid-20s) and have been trying to concieve for 3 years. I have a lot of the classic PCOS symptoms (even before I began taking insulin and treating my Diabetes), which my endo is starting to treat to spironolactone. IS there anyone out there that has a type I diagnosis and is trying to get to the root of the problem...maybe PCOS???

Thanks,
Hope

Hi Hope...Welcome to SoulCysters! There are many cysters here in the same boat as you...unfortunately (or rather fortunately to me) I cannot help you, as I dont have Diabetes...but I am going to transfer your post over to the Diabetes forum...the cysters over there can certainly give you some feedback!! Check for any responses in that forum...OK?! Good Luck!

Talking I've found someone at last! Come back & post again!

Hey Hope!

I've no idea if you'll get this or not, I know you originally posted your message ages ago but it's worth a shot. I thought this board was for Type II only and so have never peeked in here!

I see this was your 1st and only post - Come back! I don't want to be alone again! LOL

I have Type I diabetes too, how great to see a fellow Cyster who has it too.....I was begining to think I was alone.

I've always wondered whether there was a link between PCOS and Type I but both my sisters have PCOS but I'm the only one with diabetes.

Anyhow, please feel free to get in touch if you do read this, I feel so much better knowing I'm not alone I've PM'd you too.

Thumbs up Whoo hoo!

Hey Michelle,

It's wonderful to see another Cyster in a similar position! You've made my day

I see you are also TTC#1 and taking Gluc. ~ I stopped it back i Feb 02 as it wasn't agreeing with me.

How does the pump suit you? In the UK, you have no hope of getting one, they don't think they work very well, have too many complications and aren't cost effective......

Anyhoo, thanks for your PM btw, I'm in the middle of sorting stuff out after we moved house on Friday so bear with me, I will get back to you!

I'm so happy to have found someone I can relate to on this issue.

JJ,
I LOVE my pump...LOL....when I was first put on it 5 years ago..I was a little leary about it. NOW....I wouldn't go without one....my A1C when I was first put on it was at 14.9...it is now...5.0 and lower on a regular 3 month checkup. I hated to give myself shots, and most of the time wouldn't. I am terrified of needles, even if they are tiny...My dr actually raised my glucophage the other day....I am now on 850mg 3x a day....he is talking about going on something else in August.....but not sure what yet...it is mainly for the ttc part...but my endo said that once I finally have a baby..she is going to put me on something for good....

I will check back and see how things are going...I am going on Tuesday to have another HSG done..they are going to try to unblock my right tube.....!! Im a little nervous about it...Im scared there will be pain..LOL...

Good luck with the new house and stay in touch!!

Michelle
