Hi Clair!!! Feel free to ask away!!! I live in Litohoro, near Thessaloniki. I'm Greek but I was born and raised in Australia.
I don't know if there are any more cysters here in Greece. I wasn't able to find any.
I'd love to chat with you
Fay

Thanks so much Fay! Your children are so gorgeous! I wanted to ask about supplements. It took quite a while in the pharmacy to find the right Folic Acid, they tried first to give me one with 350mcg folic acid and i think it was 325mg iron!!! Which i didnt want, and then they ried giving me a huge 500mg folic acid, until we finally found the FOLIDEX 400mcg. Do you take Folic Acid? Which one? Also, I would love to know if you know if the following are available in the pharmacies here, and if so, what is their name in greek, and an approx cost; Evening Primrose oil, BBT thermometer, Vitex Agnus Castus, Soy Isoflavone & Zinc.
How much do you pay (approx) per gyne appointment?
I am sure I will have many more q's after these but that is all I can think of for now!!!
Sorry for asking so much, and I really do appreciate your help.
xx

Hi Claire! I only took folic acid during pregnancy. I don't remember the name...
Zinc is definetely available. I tried to find soy isoflavones when ttc#2. The only thing I could find were these pills/vitamins from Power Health (brand name). They had, I think, only 25mg soy and I think they had evening primrose oil- but I'm not to sure. They were for menopause!!! Anyway, I had searched only in my town, which doesn't have very big pharmacies. I got pg that cycle, so I think soy is worth a try.
I go to a gyno in Thessaloniki. He is a family dr, but he's pretty expensive- 70 euro. In smaller towns prices usually range from 30-50.
Don't worry about asking questions. When I was ttc the internet and especially this site helped me. All the information I got (soy, for example) was from here. I would tell my dr the stuff I knew, and he'd say bravo, but that would piss me off because it's his job to inform me!
How long have you been in Greece? Do you like it here? Corfu is very beautiful. Do you know any Greek??
Primrose oil: ladi nihtolouloudo
Zinc: psevdargiros
Soy isoflavones: I asked for them like that
I don't know what vitex agnus castus is.
I hope I was able to help.
Fay

I have been here over 4 years now, and my Greek is quite good, but I think I need more confidence.... it will come with time I think. Corfu is beautiful, but I dont like the long winters without work and therefore money!
I have been to the pharmacy..... I wanted soy isoflavones and most of the cysters on here talk about their tablets having 40mg isoflavones each. The ones at the pharmacy only have 17.5mg each, so I would need 7 tablets to get the 120mg most cysters take - how much did you take - if you can remember! I think the brand was phytosoya and it is about 18euro for 60.
Evening primros oil capsules..... they were struggling to find me some but today found some in the power health catalogue at 15euro for 60 capsules, so they are getting me them.
Natural Progesterone cream..... they say they only have vaginal progesterone cream, not the type for applying to chest etc.
Robitussin...... i understand robitussin is the brand name and any cough syrup with guaifenesin as the only active ingredient in will do the same. They can get me a syrup with guaifenesin but it also has theophylline in so I am not sure about that. They did give me Prospan dried ivy leaf extract syrup which is also an expectorant and loosens mucus so I am considering using that after AF to help my CM.
Any opinions on the above for me? It is the soy I am most interested in.

Hi Claire!!
I took Power Health's Salusoy F. It has 25mg soy. Check it out at :
www.powerhealth.gr.
It says to take only 2 tablets a day. By the way, it's normally for menopause!!

Oh Fay, the pharmacy in the village say they spoke to Power Health and they said the Salusoy F is not available here yet, as it is not even in the catalogue they have yet!
So I am considering getting the one they already have which has 17.5mg per capsule. Can you remember how many you took? Did you take the recommended 2 per day?
I got some low dose (baby) aspirin at the bargain price of 66cents - yippee!
