Default Anyone here started out with..

a low beta? I am just curious. My beta was 33. It more than double each time. I thought all was alright then it happened Saturday, I lost my lil angel. I was wondering if maybe there something with the PCOS and progestrone level causing us miscarry. What do you girls think.
hugs,

Default I'm sorry to hear about your loss!

all betas start at 0 - and they are supoposed to double and go up all the time . . . but of course if you are going to miscarry, they go back down. For me, a major part of my PCOS is low progesterone - I didn't make enough to have a regular AF, let alone a baby (I thought it might kick in if I got pregnant tho). So my doc says next time, progesterone supplements of some kind.

Hang in there!

Default Progesterone

I am so sorry for your loss.
I had 2 misscaraiges in my first trimester. The second one I even went to 3 doctors and they all told me that I did not need progesterone, that low progesterone was just a sign of a failing pregnancy. But It really made me angry that they did not even try to give me progesterone knowing that it cannot hurt the baby. So before I got pregnant again I found a new doctor who was willing to try giving me progesterone. When I got pregnant he gave me progesterone suppositories and I carried my baby to 22 weeks. Then I lost him due to another issue we are still trying to figure out but it wasnt progesterone. In my opinion the progesterone made it possible to carry my baby past thr first trimester, which by then the placenta takes over making the progesterone instead of the ovaries.
I urge you to talk to your doctor about next time giving yhou progesterone. From what my doctor says it cant hurt in any way so why not use it if it may help. There are even new studies that show continuing progesterone throughout the whole pregnancy can prevent preterm labor. So I will be insisting on it the next time.
I wish you the best

Yes--my beta started very low (20) and over the course of two weeks sluggishly made it to 113 before I m/c. Then it fell rapidly to 4 within a week of the m/c. From some of the research I did on the internet, the number isn't as important as the doubling. My doctor gave me prog support because my prog was low. The nurse I primarily dealt with thought that it might have been because the pregnancy was weak. At my followup, the ob/gyn though that the m/c might have been due to poor implantation.

I'm sorry for your loss. For me, healing takes time and grief comes in waves at times. Take good care of yourself, both physically and emotionally. Use the support here and with those in your life.
