My partner and I will be going to the doctor's in a few days and discussing IUI and I'm curious if anyone here is trying, it's a little difficult to fit in on the regular mommy board.
Well, my partner and I TTC'ed and we were successful. As my signature says, I'm in my 3rd tri and really looking forward to meeting our little one. We have decided to wait to know the baby's sex.
I used clomid and trigger shot to ovulate each time. We did and IUI three times and I got pregnant on the 3rd one. I was in total shock. I was 33 when I conceived and I'll be 34 once the baby is here. My partner is 31 and we've been together for nearly 9 years. We're so excited we can barely contain ourselves.
If I can answer any quetions etc., please let me know. I do post on the "pregnant cysters" board but would love it if there were other lesbian moms-to-be out there.
Let me know how things go for you and your partner.
Kelly

Hi. I just read your other post and figured out that you live in New Orleans but when to school in New York. I live in Brooklyn w/ my partner...were you in school in the city?
Glad you found us!
Oh, and, I got pregnant at a much heavier weight than you did - pre-pregnancy I was 225 and 5'4. I started out a few years ago at 240 and went down to 190 but gained some weight during TTC b/c I got so stressed. So, don't let that GYN discourage you!

What is "trigger shot"...am I just naive in that I don't know what that is?
Thanks!

Hi there! Just wanted to say I'm a straight girl from the "pregnant cysters" board and we welcome everyone there! Well, I'm sure that in their heart of hearts, *some* of the ladies have their doubts ... but just ignore them. You'll find lots of support there when you do conceive. Good luck to you and your partner!!!

I just read your post that you and your partner were considering IUI and wanted to chime in. My hubby and I did Clomid and IUI after three years of TTC and were blessed for it to work on the first try. It is really not too bad of a procedure. Basically, you start by taking Clomid. Then most docs will so ultrasounds almost every day to check for follicles. As soon as there are one or more follicles that are mature you will "trigger". The trigger shot is just a hormone that will force ovulation to happen within the next day or so, that way when the doctor does the insemination you will know the egg was released. Our doctor did two IUIs on consecutive days. Then he did another ultrasound to confirm that the eggs did indeed get released and the rest was just wait, wait, wait! Best of luck to you, you will be in my prayers!
My partner and I recently discussed pregnancy - I'm so glad to see that there is hope. I was told by my doctor years ago that with PCOS its pretty much a 75% chance that conceiving will not work.
I'm so happy to see that he could be wrong and that my partner and I could both have a chance to carry a child. Its both our dreams to experience pregnancy - she'll be as thrilled to hear this as I was to read it.
I must admit I haven't paid attention to the TTC board as I thought it would be depressing but for some reason today I decided to look into this thread and it certainly brightened my day!
