I take both fast- and long-lasting insulin. I take 60 units of Levemir (similar to Lantus) right before bed and I take Novolog before each meal. The number of units of Novolog is determined by a sliding scale which means that I'm checking my glucose level before each meal and then again 2 hours after each meal.
I think it played a role because prior to my being diagnosed with diabetes, I had suffered 4 miscarriages. I do have other issues for those losses but, it wasn't until I was diagnosed with diabetes, increased metformin, added actos and the insulin and controlled those sugars (doing all that also made me lose about 20-25 pounds) that I got my first bfp with no help of fertility medications. That was also my first successful pregnancy.
I do know when my sugars are in the normal range, I will have normal af's and feel better.
