I spent most of my life in K-W.
I was born at St. Mary's Hospital(when they still did deliveries) went to St. Boniface Elementary School, St. Mary's High School , Resurrection, & St. David's.
I know there are many other tri-city cysters around here and hopefully they will come out of hiding to post.
I no longer live in in K-W or even Ontario, but there are many times that I do wish I was back east.

Hi
I live in Kitchener, have been for 3 years now. I see a gyno but he is telling me he can no longer do any thing more for me to get preg. Do any of you know of a good clinic to go check out? I want to know what the clinic will probally do for me as the only meds i've tried are clomid and a combo of clomid and metformin. I am not sure i'm ready for IUI or IVF as i am only 25 years old.
Thanks BeetleGirl. I tried getting an appointment there, but they said it may take up to 6 months to get in. I talked to a friend of mine that said she had gone there and that they have a really bad bed side manner. I have had to deal with rude doctors before and would rather avoid that. However the doctor she said was amazing is Dr. Martin with the SOFT clinic in London. I know it is a bit of a drive but i was able to get an appointment for November 10th and SOFT isn't going to charge me $125 just for the first visit, which makes up for the cost of gas to get there and back. I am really excited to go to this doctor as i think it might work if i were to do rounds of injections and or an IUI. When my gyno put me on clomid as soon as he put me up to the max dose i ovulated but after break i had since i was on it for 6 months i went back on it and it didn't work anymore for me. i am hoping that with meds i will be able to get preg. All my problems are from pcos and endo. So wish me luck.

~ I never knew what true love was, until I married the man of my dreams and held these babies in my arms ...
I live in Kitchener, moved here Feb 2008 and love it. We have a good gyno and endocrinologist here in the city.
A Summer--who is your doctor that has "helped" as much as he can?
I saw Dr. Halmo for 2 years. He also did my Lapo. He is very good but always seems to be in a rush. His office is on Belmont and has free parking right in front of the office, which is nice. Normally the main nurse i've dealt with there has been very nice but there is one there that i have not seen very often but has left a very bad impression. She is always rude and has a horrible bed side manner. Are you trying to find a gyno?

Hiya,
I have a gyno locally, I was just curious since I wanted to know if we were seeing the same doctor. I also go to the Belmont office which also has my endro in it, but obviously different doctors.
I'm originally from Connecticut, but I've been living in Kitchener for the past 6 years!
Also, A Sumner, I completely agree with your friend's opinion of the KARMA clinic. It took DH & I got a referral to the clinic in October, our first appointment there was in mid-May. The nursing staff at the clinic are really nice and very willing to answer any questions you have....however Dr. Campanaro (the fertility specialist/doctor) has absolutely no bed-side manner whatsoever and is completely unhelpful.
On top of that, when we went in for our first consult appointment I told the doctor that my cycle length typically ranges from 35-45 days....but when she had me go through my "investigative" cycle she performed all the testing as if I had the "typical" 28 day cycle. So basically all the monitoring (aside from CD3 testing and HSG/SHG) were performed a week too early - this includes the tests that are supposed to be done at 7DPO. It then took almost month after all the tests were completed for us to get any of our test result (including the CD3 & semen analysis)...and when the doctor did give us the results, the results of my endometrial biospy were missing/not included in my chart. In terms of treatment - I was diagnosed with non-IR PCOS (high antral follicle count, FSH level of 3.6, LH level of 9.2, slightly elevated androstenedione level which has been lowered thanks to dexamethasone - all other hormones were within normal ranges) and the doctor is treating it like it's the worst diagnosis in the world. She's basically told me that she holds out no hope that Clomid will work, she won't even consider Femara, and since I don't have insulin resistance won't prescribe metformin (despite the fact that it's been shown to help even in non-IR PCOSers) and that the only treatment she's recommending in ovarian drilling - which I refuse to have done until all other possible options have been tried and fail due to the numerous problems/negative side effects it can have. During the appointment where she gave us our results, she was more concerned about the fact that I have a negative rh-factor and DH has a positive rh-factor....and spent the majority of the appointment telling me about the risks associated with our rh incompatibility (risks which I'm very much well aware of since both my mother and my sister in law have the same issue and have told me all about them).
And, in addition to the $125 fee you have to pay at your first appointment they charge $375/monitored cycle despite the fact that cycle monitoring is covered by OHIP and most other clinics don't charge for it.
Personally I'm trying to find a different doctor/clinic. I want a doctor who is going to be optimistic about treatments and is willing to work with me to develop a treatment plan. And where I won't get charged for services that should be covered under OHIP.
(Sorry about the rant...as you can probably tell I haven't had the best experience with KARMA. More times than not I've left appointments feeling horrible about myself and my chances of having a baby, and then spend the better part of the day wanting to cry).

I have never heard of any one having a good experience at Karma. Also I have never actually heard of any one getting pregnant from any of their treatments. If you are still looking for a doc, try getting a referral to the clinic in London called SOFT from everything i have heard, this place is great. I have called them a few times now and always get to talk to some one very nice and understanding. Also you don't have to wait 6 months to get in. I was able to get an appointment in 6 weeks and that is with the head doctor. As far as i have heard Dr Martin is amazing. And some of the people i have talked to about them didn't get pregnant but still have high praise for this clinic.

Did you have your twins while seeing Dr. Martin? They are beautiful. If yes, what treatment did you have to get preg? If you don't mind me asking.
