Default Anyone know anything about Remeron?

I was taking Celexa but had terrible tummy trouble. Dr. switched me to Remeron. Wondering what to expect. Any side effects that I might want to be aware of? I've had a hard time with the last one

http://www.remeron.com/

The drug is manufactured by Organon Inc. - who just also happens to be one the fertility drug leaders in the U.S. They've devoted a website to Remeron. Hope it helps.

Thanks, I checked the site out. It was very helpful. Anyone with personal experience? I'm a little nervous at trying another one.

I have never taken remeron, but I am a social worker and have seen many people on it. Just watch out because I know that it is an anti-depressant that actually stimulates appetite. It it used especially when people are depressed and not eating. Hope this helps.

I tried it for about two weeks and could never get over that dopey drugged feeling. It was great for finally getting some sleep, but I felt like I was is a foggy daze all day long. I also had problems with increased appetite on it. I couldn't take it anymore and was switched to Zoloft which has helped me a ton. I wasn't on it long enough to see of it helped the depression though. It may be different for you, but that's my experience. Hope it helps.

I took it for over 2 years. I just got off of it. It definately helps you sleep. One common side effect is weight gain. I gained about 30 pounds over a two year period on it. It also may cause your cholesterol levels to go up. Have your doctor follow that. The first couple of weeks you may feel "hung over" in the morning, but that will go away. Also, you may get a "startle effect" if you hear a sudden noise or something like that it might startle you. I think it is because it acts on norepinephrine, but that usually subsides after a couple of weeks too. I was on 15mg, and I remember my doctor saying that if it is overly sedating to you, that you actually increase the dosage.

It's been 24 hrs. and I'm still dopey ! Well, that may be my normal state of mind, LOL but I can't handle this. I slept really well, but can't function like this. I happened to be going into work late today, so that was ok, but can't generally. And, I'm starting new job on Monday and have to be allert in order to learn it. So, back to the drawing board I guess. Thanks for you input. Lendi
