I was wondering if anyone knew of any good books to read to young children that have lesbian/gay families and characters. I have a 5 month old son and I have been thinking of how to raise him so he is accepting of everyone. My sister is a lesbian and has a wonderful partner. They attended my sons baptism and will be present at all family functions, including Christmas. My son loves to be read to already, and I want to read him books that represent all facets of our family. I don't want him to grow up thinking my sister's partner is simply just a good friend, or a roommate. I want him to understand they are together b/c they love each other- and that they are a family just like my husband, son, and I are a family. Any suggestions??

I have heard that the author Julie Anne (or Ann) Peters writes good with good, strong gay, lesbian, or transgendered characters.

I haven't personally read any of the books, so I'd recommend researching her further on amazon.com.
