Default Anyone know of a Good Obstetrician in Sydney, Australia?

Hi Guys,

I tested BFP with HPT, on my B'day 23/4/03. HCG Blood test confirmed on 24/4/03.

I am looking for a good Obstetrician, who can do a close monitoring of my PG progress being PCOS. Can anyone recommend a good Obstetrician?

I have doubts with my RE who is also an Obstetrician. My first appt with her is 11 weeks into PG. I thought that was strange.
I thought the critical time is first 8-12 weeks to ensure my HCG stays up and progesterone isn't dropping. I'm getting worried very worried.

Cheers,
Shilz

Hi Shilz,
First of all Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Which part of Sydney are you in? Not that I can actually recommend an ob for you, cause I'm just going through the public system, and my first appt with the hospital wasn't until this week (14 weeks - with the midwife), and i don't actually see an ob till 18weeks. But when I had questions and concerns early on, I just saw my GP, who put my mind at ease, did a repeat beta and all the ante-natal blood tests, and reassured me that my pregnancy was progressing normally. I've been told that my pregnancy is considered a low-risk, even with the PCOS (this is my first pregnancy).

I hope that helps to ease your worries a bit? and maybe someone else can recommend an OB for you?

Good luck!
Tollee

Hi Shilz

There's a good obgyn, Dr Warren Kidson, who has practices in Randwick and Hornsby. His details are as follows:

Kidson Dr Warren
24 Blenheim St Randwick 2031 (02) 9399 6710
32 Florence St Hornsby 2077 (02) 9476 5402
Residence (02) 9328 1979

I can't speak from personal experience, as I'm not from Sydney nor am I TTC, but I've met him before at POSAA conferences and he's great.

Good luck!

Hello fiorella,

Many thanks for the details. I did ring but his receptionist said he's doesn't do obstetrician work...

If you hear of any others please let me know. For now I'm sticking to my RE/OB. I rang another OB as suggested my GP, but he was going to cost me triple for the same work as my existing OB so I thought I'll stick around until I get referrals from someone else...

Many thanks again for your reply.

Shilz,

Sorry I wasn't sure if he did ob.work or not.
I'll ask some of the other Sydney ladies if they can recommend anyone.

Shilz

My friend recommends the following:

Dr. Robert Lyneham...take a look at sivf.com.au ...he was mine in Oz, and is also a fertility specialist. Has a very nice, casual manner.

Good luck!

Many thanks again for your help.

I phoned Dr. Lynehams office... My final decision has been pretty much guided by the cost.. I would be out of pocket for $2800 whith Dr. Lynehams or $1200 with Dr. Gayer...

With work not providing any maternity pay at all, Jason and I really haven't got much of a choice but to stick with the cheaper one...

Many thanks for your help again.

R U Trying to Conceive?

Regards,
Shilz
