Question Anyone in the Lewes/Brighton area?

Hi,

Having been diagnosed with PCOS by my GP back in June I now have my first consultant's appointment tomorrow. It's at Lewes Victoria Hospital with Mr Kelvin Boos - anyone heard of, or seen him? Or is anyone from this area, and knows the level of treatment I can expect from the NHS?

I haven't had any treatment so far - can I expect to come away with a prescription for Metformin and something to ease the excess hair, or will I have to fight for it? My GP did say that Metformin was the standard treatment, so I know the NHS in these parts aren't averse to prescribing it!

All replies appreciated!

Hi, sorry I'm not from your area but this caught my eye as I'm just about to go through the same situation.

I am from Reading, Berkshire. Yesterday my GP forwarded me for an appointment with the 'PCOS Specialist' at the local hospital (Royal Berks). Must admit, I never knew such a specialist existed there as they've not been mentioned to me before so I'm wondering myself what to expect from an NHS specialist and what extra they will do for me?

I was diagnosed earlier this year around May. Was put on Dianette, I was very warey of it anyway it turns out that it's been making me very ill so was told yesterday to come off immediately and visiti a specialist as apparently they can do much more for me.

Although at the same time I was very pleased to be referred. I'm also a bit annoyewd that I didn't get offered this treatment/advise in the first place as I've gone through a majority of this year very poorly.

So, shall see what happens!

Maybe we could swap experiences?

Hope it all goes well
