Default Is Anyone Like Me?!?

Dear Fellow Thin Cysters,
I am 5'8" 120 lbs. recently found out i likely have pcos (saw all the cysts on an ultrasound performed by RE), but the thing is I HAVE ALWAYS HAD REGULAR PERIODS. I have suffered from acned since I was a teenager (I'm 25), but I don't have the hirutism, and I'm not sure what ya'll mean by hairloss. I have thick long hair, but when I pick it out after washing it there are some strands of hair that come out, but no baldness. Please let me know your story. Thanks!

Default hello!

im skinny , 7 stone, dont no wot that is in lbs. 5'7.

i have had very few periods weeks, and im now 18. i thought it was a blesssing that it was taking time to sort itself out... but mum got worried and booked me in at the docs. blood test results that i recieved the other day suggest pcos, but i have got to have a ultrasound scan to confirm. jelly on ya belly. this is all new to me, and its goin in slowly...

i thought hirsuitism , was excess hair, i have bushy eyebrows that need regular plucking , but not really any hair that shouldnt be there anywhere else.

im 18 btw. no acne to complain of other than the occasional teenage spots, but i think i do get oily skin that makes my hair greasy, which means if i dont wash it everyday , it doesnt look too good the second day.

so , i think im kinda lucky with symptons, apart from... feeling hunger a lot , even 20 mins after eating, which gets annoying, but i dont think i eat enough anyway.

well, there u go , theres my story , hi!

Talking I was just like you!

I was diagnosed at the age of 18. I have never been overweight or experienced hair loss. I do deal with the other hair isssues. The hair shows up in places we gals would prefer it didn't. Wax usually takes care of that though. Eventually my periods went away all together. I wouldn't have one if it wasn't for Provera. The acne has increasingly gotten worse. I am presently 29. It has been ten years, and the acne and hair are the only thing that bother me. I am 5'5" 125 lbs. I can eat anything I want. The one thing I deal with is the matter of pain. I have consistent pain in my ab area. After ultrasounds and other tests, we have determined that the pain is coming from some of my larger cysts bursting. When they burst, the pain is initiated. I haven't heard of any one else having this problem.... but this condition affects everyone differently.

Thanks for sharing and thanks for letting me share.

Well - I am 5'2 and weigh 105. My doctor thinks I am extremely unusual. I have tried 100 mg of Chlomid and only ovulated every other month. The doc feels my left side may be much more cystic. Progesterone levels are basically nonexistant when it is the left ovary month. So - next month we will be trying a new med (Can't remember the name), but it is used for women who have had breast cancer and can't ovulate due to the chemo. Any one heard of this????????

Hi Lilean,
I'm new here.

I'm like you... always regular cycles (well, by regular I mean every 3-7 weeks). The thing is that none of my cycles are ovulatory, I've been charting them and there haven't been any signs of ovulation like temperature spikes etc.

I'm 5'6" or 5'7". I've struggled with weight in the past, but not nearly as much as some of the dear ladies here. I weighed around 170-175 pounds for the longest time. About 8 months ago, I started trying to lose weight. I didn't know about PCOS yet, but I did some quite sensible things -- cut out most desserts, cut back on sugar intake, gave up pop and other sugary drinks. So essentially I cut back my intake of "bad" carbs, without knowing that I had PCOS. (Once I found out about my PCOS, I started cutting white bread etc.) I've lost around 25-30 pounds. I'm at a nice, healthy weight now, just under 135. I would like to stay here! (Oh, but even now I have that weight distribution pattern that's more common with IR ladies-- that "apple shape")

I do have problems with hirsutism though, have had them since I was about 15. I've had problems with acne since I was 11 or 12.

They did an ultrasound and bloodtests to confirm I have PCOS... I have incredibly screwed-up hormone levels and lots of cysts. More cysts on my left ovary though for some reason.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you.

Emily
