Default anyone with low estrogen??

any thin cysters out there with low estrogen? My doctor told me to gain weight to increase it, but I don't feel like I"m too thin right now! 5'4" 105-108. I thought pcos was associated with high estrogen...

I'm a thin cyster too, 5'4 110. Both my estrogen and progesterone are low. My doctor just put me on met, he said that would hopefully help to regulate my horomones. I have been trying to gain weight, but it's just not happening. My doc said the met should help and that I didn't need to worry too much about not gaining weight. Who knows! But you can have low estrogen and have PCOS.

Take care!

erikca, thanks so much for your response! I'm still going to try to gain a few pounds (it figures, right? I spend most of my life watching what I eat and exercising, and as soon as I am trying to GAIN weight I find myself backsliding - I'm down to 104!) by cutting out some cardio and adding a protein shake. I'm glad to know I"m not alone though. When I go back to the dr. in 2 mos. I'm definitely planning on asking about met, regardless of what my IR test shows - are you IR? Sorry so nosy, I'm new to this and just trying to suss out everything. I swear, this is the best thing about the internet, the abililty to find kind people in your shoes to offer advice and hope (and to pass on the same). g'night.

No problem- ask away! I am really new at this too, so I'm sure there are people on this site who are more expert about all of this than me! I don't think I'm IR- I haven't had the work up done but my doc doesn't think so. He did say that he likes to start everyone he treats who has PCOS with met first, whether they are IR or not. I'm still trying to gain weight too, but at this point I've been so sick from the met that I'm sure I'm losing weight! My cousin promised I would be used to it soon! I've been on it for less than a week! Take care!
