I just started it about 2 days ago myself. My RE prescribed it to me to induce a period since I haven't had one since November of last year. So far I haven't had any side effects from it. But then again I'm not sure if I would know if it was from the medroxyprogesterone or if it was from the Metformin that I recently started. My RE said that a period (AF) should come between right after I finished the 10 pills and 2 weeks after. Hope all goes well for you.

I started taking this medication about six months ago to make my periods stable and to produce the white mucus looking substance (don't remember the offical name) that comes before the period. So far I haven't gotten any side effects and I did notice that now I am producing mucous that comes before a period. I hadn't seen that in years.
Just finished my ten days of pills yesterday actually. I had more side effects than usual this particular time (in the past, it has given me little to none). I was given it to induce a period since I get about 3 a year. This month, I am taking it so I can start my first round of Clomid.
I also agree with Theblueberry...I have noticed an increase in mucous as well each time I've taken it. Which, for me, is a good thing since I never previously noticed much of anything.
My last cycle was a little over a month ago, so my induced period will hopefully not be as bad as they have been in the past in this medicine. Typically, I have very painful cramps and a heavy period on Medroxyprogesterone.

I forgot what the doctor told me, is it take it for three months for ten days at the beginning at the month and skip three months and then start again? I'm confused.
I would contact you doctor for the answer to that due to each person's situation being different. With it being a holiday weekend most doctor's offices are closed on Monday, but I would be on the phone with them first thing in the Tuesday morning.

I've been taking Provera for awhile now to induce my period because I only got it once every 6 months. I take the pills for 7 days and then a few days later it comes and its a lot lighter then when I didn't have a period. However, I do get headaches and irritability but that's a lot better then the alternative. The only problem I'm having is checking to see if I'm prego before starting it up each month, but what happens if I become pregnant after I see that I'm not prego? So, it is confusing but without it I wouldn't have a normal period.
I came on here to ask the same question as the OP, am glad I found this.
I get Provera every 6 months or so, and it worked for a couple of years, but the last couple of times It hasn't given me a period - just a little dark brown 'show'. The does was only 5mg for 5 days. So this time my GP gave me 10mg for 7 days. 13 days later I got a dark brown discharge and this is my 5th day of this. I had very mild cramps and I have been a bit hormonal (especially when I was taking the pills) but certainly nothing like the way I used to get.
Now, I have put on a lot of weight since the old days where 5mg over 5 days was enough to give me the works (and sometimes trigger a real period the next month), so I wonder if that's the problem. But I haven't had a natural period for a couple of years, since I was taking Agnus Castus, but even that stopped working.
Just wondering if anyone is feeling my pain? I need to speak to the GP and Endo, but if anyone else is having this issue then I'd like to hear from you.
