Default Is anyone on Met without insulin problems

Hello all,

I am fairly new to all this and have been reading up that Met helps you to lose weight and can regulate your periods.

I discovered I had pcos when I came off the pill in the summer and did not have a period for months. I then went back on the pill (Yasmin) to relieve my syptoms, which it has.

I had blood tests, think they tested for hormone levels?? She could see from that that I could have PCOS and referred me for scan and this was confirmed. When applying for life insurance they did blood tests and sugar levels bit high. Went bac to docs who said they were normal.

I have been on the pill for 8 years now and would really like a break from it. Wondered if Met can be prescribed to people without insulin problems as this would be ideal to help me lose weight which I have put on (2 stone or so) and regulate periods.

I have an appointment with specialist on 2nd Feb and wondered if it was worth asking to try this?

Thanks x

I have been on Met for about a month and I do not have insulin resistance. My RE put me on it because he says that it also lowers testosterone levels (mine were high) and that might help me ovulate and help with the hair issues. According to my chart on Fertility Friend I did ovulate this cycle (first time in 4 cycles!).

Sadly, I have only lost about 3 pounds. I think more weight loss is seen in IR patients.

I was just put on Metformin as well and I don't have IR. The dr thinks it will help regulate my cycles and work with the clomid to make me ovulate.
