I was on Microgynon before my PCOS diagnosis. I was fine on it, but then I have been on all the brands of pill I've tried. Microgynon is, I believe, the "standard" first choice of pill for the NHS. One reason for this is probably because it's cheap. If it doesn't suit you, don't hesitate to discuss changing. Some ladies are on Dianette which is anti-androgenic and therefore good for reducing acne and excess hair, but on the other hand has a slightly higher risk of blood clots, etc and you are not supposed to stay on it long term. I'm currently on Marvelon which is also anti-androgenic but the dose is lower than on Dianette.

I was on it for a while.. I hated it.. it made me feel slightly nauseated... however going off it was more of a problem... I bled solidly for 3 weeks! rather frightning... they put me on Diane but of course, after that experience I decided I didnt want anything to do with hormone pills.

That said, most people seem to have no problem on micro... if you have any side effects get a different pill... they all have different dosages... or perhaps look into a different form of contraceptive.

I know that I personally can't take the pill because it makes me feel sick and interferes with the metformin (or perhaps the met interferes with the pill.. i'm not sure)...
