I 've just been switched from ortho tricyclen lo too mircette .
doctor claims my headache's are due to the sudden dip in estrogen on the dummy pills to start bleeding .
i'm told this pill has little to no dip cause the 7 dummy pill's 5 of them have lose dose estrogen .
so anyone on this board taken mircette ? i'd love to hear the good the bad and ugly lol.

Hi I have been taking it since feb of this year and have had no problems with it. I have had problems with mood swings and headaches with others in the past.

I love Mircette! Plus there's a generic, Kariva, which may be cheaper for you.
The small dose of estrogen in the five days helps me enormously, too - my moods are much more even than on Yasmin or particularly Ortho-Tri.
My skin is in really good shape too.
Good luck!

Tried Ortho-Tri, terrible terrible. Mircette saved my life. Then tried Yasmin which was OK but had some side effects.
Now I'm back on Kariva (generic Mircette) with a low dose of Spiro. Ten bucks a month and I'm in a deliciously good mood.
I took that quiz and I'm Curry Flavored, how cool is that?
I just thought I'd let you know that I've taken Mircette in the past. It was before I discovered that I had PCOS, and my Dr. prescribed it to make AF regular. I think that's when I started having AF like clockwork, with the very pronounced PMS symptoms... Just my little input...

Hello ladies! Glad to hear some positives on Mircette! I was on Yasmin for 14 months and developed severe migraine headaches. I tried to deal with it as long as possible because my PCOS symptoms were finally under control and I had lost 20 pounds. I finally just couldn't take the headaches anymore and quit taking it a couple of weeks ago. Went to the Dr. today and asked for something fabulous without migraines! ha! So - he prescribed mircette - which I haven't heard much about. I still need to lose about 15 - 20 pounds and am hoping that this new bcp will help. I did LC to lose the first 20, but have found that since I quit taking the Yasmin - and started over with induction - no weight loss in 3 weeks. I'm hoping that will change.
Thanks again for your postings! I love this site!!

Wow, I was definitely glad to find this post! I was on O3C (Ortho Tri-Cyclen) for a year and had no obvious problems with it, but I developed gallstones soon after starting it. I don't know if the O3C caused that, but know that galbladder disease can be a side effect of bcp's. So that freaked me out and I asked for something with a low dose of hormones, and my doctor put me on mircette. Defiitely glad to know that y'all have had good experiences with it!
Did anyone notice a change in weight when starting mircette, or especially if you switched to mircette from something else? I gained about 10 pounds when I went on O3C!
I'm also really glad to hear it helps with the mood swings...on O3C I'd get really depressed when the hormone levels dropped off.
I took Mircette for about a 6 months, and I really didn't like it. ( sry all) It caused extreme ovary pain in my and did something to the chemistry of my uhh discharge, making me have to use a pad everyday because of wetness and smell. Also, my blood pressure spiked like crazy on it giving me terrible headaches. (My BP is usually stable.) I switched to Yasmin but I ovulate on it so it was kind of counter productive...lol. But still give it a try, every woman is different. GL with it...

I was on Mircette. It worked great for me for a good long time before I had any problems with it. I'd give it a try. I was on it from 12 years old till earlier this year with no hige problems. My PMS was getting bad towards the end of the time I was on it and my cramps were getting awful, which is why I switched but it did a lot of good for a long time. Just make sure you let your doctor know if you have any problems with cramping or anything and they may need to switch you in that case.
