Default Anyone with no symptoms of PCOS but diagnosed with it?

hi,

i was recently diagnosed with polycystic ovaries after my first failed IVF. i have absolutely no symptoms of PCOS at all, except my RE seems to think my ovaries responded to the meds as though they are polycystic.

anyone else out there like this?

i started the metformin ER a few days ago for my next IVF and am pretty sick from it. hoping this goes away soon!

Well, he may just think you have PCOS-like ovaries. But I technically have no symptoms except I don't ovulate and I have the pearl-like follicles in my ovaries. Do you ovulate? Did he do an ultrasound?

As for the metformin, I have now been on it for just over 2 weeks and today was my first day feeling better. Diarrhea and loss of appetite were my two biggest issues but today was a great day.

thanks so much, wendi.

i do ovulate and have totally normal periods...i've had many ultrasounds during the course of TTC and i don't thing we've seen the pearl-like follicles in my ovaries, but i'm not sure!

thanks for the info on the metformin. i just finished a week and am definitely less nauseated, which is good. except i have to double my dose tomorrow...will that bring the side effects back?

I am pretty sure your doctor meant that you have pcos-like eggs. I am on another board (hannahsprayer.org) and a woman who was having an IVF procedure said the doctor told her this. If you ovulate regularly and you have never seen the multiple follicles (have these been vaginal ultrasounds?) then I doubt you have PCOS.

What is your current dosage of metformin? I would assume if you double your dosage you may get the side effects. You may want to see if you can go up a little slower. I have heard that helps. I am on 2000 (4 pills each evening) and I am now at about 2.5 weeks of taking the drugs and the nausea is gone. So, if you are taking less than that you can use me to see that you shouldn't be nauseous for longer than 2-3 weeks I would assume. Yesterday I could finally eat. Did food just turn you off? This is what happened with me. I couldn't even SMELL it ... I am onthe extended release so I took it 8 p.m. and by about 3 o'clock the next day I would be feeling well enough to eat dinner Ugh...

Hope to hear back from you,

Wendi

wendi, you're exactly right. the doctor said i responded as though i had polycystic ovaries, but not necessarily PCOS.

all my ultrasounds have been vaginal...i did one injectibles cycle in which i produced many more eggs than they expected, but normally my ovaries are fairly non-cystic.

i'm currently on 500mg and i'll be upping it to 1000mg tonight.
i have the exact same problems with smelling/thinking about food! it's awful. i take mine at about 9pm and am pretty much nauseated until 2 or 3ish the next day. guess that's standard!
