Default Anyone non-IR and on met?

Hi--I'm new here and just started taking 500mg Gluc XR last week. My tests show I'm not IR but my dr. said we'd try it for a couple of months while I wean my daughter (she's 10mos.) to see if it will work before trying clomid to conceive again. Has anyone who's not IR used it with any success?

More info if it's helpful--I'm 5ft5 and 130--he's starting me on 500mg to work up to 1000mg after 2 weeks.

thanks!

lena

Hi Lena,

Welcome!!

I too am not IR and was started on Metformin almost 2 months ago. (I am 5'9" and 140 lbs.) My doctor also wanted to start with Met for 3 months and then if no sucess try Clomid too. Well, the met may have done the trick I am calling for a beta test tomorrow after a +hpt today. There is no doubt in my mind the met helped me to ovulate!!

Good Luck to you!

Hi Lena,

I am not IR, and started metformin 2X850mg a day 8 days ago.
height 5'7" - weight 138lbs ( but it fluctuates all the time, this is by really not eating much) .
I guess I am going on Metformin mainly because I have miscarried twice, and the only reason that they can give me for my miscarriages is PCOS. Hoping if I get pregnant this time, it would help. I haven't been on it long enough to tell whether it has improved other symptoms yet.

Good luck with it

Hi!! I too am not IR and am not overweight, pretty average. All of my hormone levels are intact, except higher LH. I have been on Glucophage 1500mg for 4months now. We just moved, and my new RE is not convinced I have pcos, though they are quite visible on ultasound!! He says it is up to me if I want to continue on gluc. It has not worked at all, and I have to take provera next week to get a period. Last time I took it I developed an ovarian cyst, had not period and had to have surgery to have it out!! I am very wary and did not know if anyone had some advice. Should I stay on the Glucophage? We desperately want to get pregnant and am due to start clomid in February (due to insurance reasons). Let me know what you think!! I am not thrilled with my doctor!! Thank you so much and good luck to you all!
