Niki - Yes, I know all about met. I work with DM patients on a daily basis, so this drug is very familiar to me. I've already discussed it with my OB/GYN and this was our next step. The only thing I've done so far is tried taking BCP's for 2 months to try to regulate. Perfectly regulated on them, first cycle off was 60some days long. lol Ah well. It was worth a shot right? I only gave up 2 months.
I am TTC, so that's why we're considering Met - to better regulate hopefully. It's unfortunate that it hasn't helped you regulate. My trans vag ultrasound did not show cysts - she said I was healthy there, so we'll see.
Weight loss - as I previously mentioned, it's not necessary as I'm a "healthy" weight, but I would 'like' to lose a little bit. I'd like to be down to the lower 120's, but I'd LOVE to be between 115-120 - I feel great at that weight. I just can't keep in there. Overall, I guess I'd like to be under 130. This 130-133 crap is driving me nuts!

Got ya - sorry for a recap (of what you already knew)! I tried the birth control regulating method as well as the cycles of provera (which stinks- I get such bad bloat I couldn't wear jeans). For whatever reason my RE wanted me to skip straight over Clomid and go straight to the FSH/HCG IUI cycles which is where I am now.
I think you may find your goal weight is easier on Metformin. I eat far more than I ever did now that I take it and I stay at the same weight as before. It's my license to eat!

Not a problem. I appreciate the assistance!
LOVE the "license to eat." I love food. Haha. DH and I eat pretty healthy foods all the time - we're kinda "health nuts," but I can easily admit I eat bigger portions than I need and I LOVE, LOVE sweet things.
I totally know that my reason for weight gain over the past year and a half has been due to a job change. I used to work in a place where I was on my feel ALL day. I was a manager and worked LONG hours (like 8:30am to past midnight most days of the week and instead of a day off I'd get to work a regular shift instead of a double. lol Plus I never took breaks - totally not healthy). I did this job for 8 years and before that I was just young and didn't have to worry about weight gain. Now I work in a place where I'm sitting most of the day. It's terrible. I KNOW that's why I've gained the weight. It's like getting 14 less hours of exercise per day! lol I'm literally thinking of changing my career to find something more physically active. I don't want a sedentary job for the rest of my life - especially as a woman with PCOS and a STRONG family hx of obesity and T2 DM (not to mention cancer, HTN, high cholesterol...yeah).
Anyway, the other side of me is a drug/med hater. I just don't like taking meds. I never have. I didn't even take a multi vit until I started TTC (now of course taking PNV's). The two months of BCP's to try to regulate were the first BCP's EVER. I just dislike meds. I have no problem swallowing them - just personal preference not to take them. BUT, because I want a baby so darn bad - and want one now, I just may resort to trying met. Plus the idea of weight loss (and more food) and possibly reduced acne and excess hair sounds amazing.
Again, thanks for your help! I'll definitely ask if I have any other questions. I usually work with DM patients taking met, but not necessarily as many PCOSers using Met (aside from on here).

Wow, we have a lot in common! I tend to have a healthy appetite but do lean towards being a healthful eater (non processed, home cooking kinda thing, we're meat and potatoes kinds but lots of garden veggies, fresh herbs, etc and whole grains for pasta bread and rice). Now I just eat more of what I like.
Yikes it is totally hard to switch to a sitting type position, it does throw you out of wack, but it sounds far less stressful and sounds like a better position especially for an expectant mom to be! Your body will adjust!
I also agree with you about taking meds, really not a fan. My general practitioner is holistic and I rarely took meds unless I needed them. Also not a fan of birth control and I would frequently go off to give my body a break. The RE didn't seem to like this and basically said after a succesful pg I am to be on BC unless I am ttc. Apparently a lack of regular ovulation (I would get a period like 2x's per year) has bad consequences and can cause cancer. I had no idea. Anyway, the thought of being able to just take Metformin to regulate rather than fertility drugs seemed great, no injections, no serious major side effects of clomid, but after 6 months of it not working it was time to move on. Now I'm on the prenatals, metformin and starting today with my first injectable cycle.
I hope it goes quickly and I can stop taking all this stuff, I feel so puffy and bloated all the time!

Well, I hope this works out for you. I'm sure I'll resort to that as well since I definitely want a baby. I have no specific timeline...I'm just going along as I see fit. I'm actually suprising myself since I've always wanted children so bad I thought I'd dive right in. I'm holding on rather well to just "waiting it out" and doing things naturally. We'll see how long that lasts.
Yes, it does seem like we have a lot in common!!

As I get started with my cycle today I was just thinking maybe I should have continued to try naturally. I got nervous b/c I plan on leaving my job and I don't know that my next insurance will cover all these meds like this one does!
If you can take the time you should! They also say that if you do resort to fertility drugs sometimes the pregnancy can actually regulate you, which would be great!

Yeah, definitely. I'd love to become regular after pregnancy. I semi enjoy only having a period every 2-3 months, but when it comes it's worse than 3 months put together. The pain and heaviness of it....it's awful! I would give anything to have a monthly cycle!!
Yeah, well, hopefully your insurance will continue to cover. Do a little research!

Oddly I would only get AF more than twice a year and it's always easy. So not looking forward to having a regular period, but if it avoids all this hoopla than I guess that's good!

So I have successfully administered my first dose Woot Woot!!! Boy was that easy! HAHA so not something to get nervous about. On a scale of 1 to 10 that was like a big fat -0-!!! I didn't even know I'd given it to myself, I was convinced I screwed up. DH had to assure me I did it right!
