Default Anyone On the Nuva-Ring?

Heya Y'all

I recently had a gastric bypass(Dec. 4th) to help me lose weight. With that I either have to crush my pills or take liquid meds or shots. My gyno prescribe the Nuva-ring(I think that is how it is spelled). It's a flexible ring that you insert up your vagina and leave it there for 3 weeks. Take it out for one, then start the process over again.

I don't feel it, it is comfortable, but I was wondering if any of you cysters were familiar with it...I think it is a fairly new product. I don't see my gyno till February. At that point I could get more details on it.

Not like I am likely to just up and get pregnant right now, but people who have had surgery like mine are recommended to wait 18 months post-op to have a baby-believe me-I do not want one before People have done it, but there is the nutrition factor.

Anyway-thanks for listening...if anyone has experience with this form of bcp, let me know
Thanks!

Talking

Oh goodness sister! Let me tell ya!

I tried Nuva Ring ONCE. I liked it! You are right, it is very comfortable and I didn't feel it when DH and I had sex.

But I couldn't get it back out!

(I'll wait for you to stop laughing)

I guess my belly was too big to get a good grip on it! Anywho, I am now using the Ortha-Evra patch, and love it!

I wouldn't mind going back on the ring once I loose some weight!

By the way, I hope you get along good with your Gastric Bypass!

Hugs
Julie

I used the Nuva-Ring once for about three months and hated it. I could feel it all the time and so could my DH during intercourse. So, we had to can that method....lol.

Anyway, good luck. I have a friend that uses it and loves it. So, I guess it is just personal preference.

Post I'm curious too...

I'm curious too...my endo wants to remove my IUD (I bleed 12+ days per month but it wasn't always so even on IUD) and put me on birth control...but she's real big into things not passing through the liver. She prescribed the patch but once I did research I found out it has the same progestin as ortho-tri-cyclen, which really did a number on me some years ago. Forget that. I would rather try the "ring," which has the same progestin as Desogen, which at least went somewhat okay way back when. Someone else post your stories too please! (especially if it worsened or made better symptoms like hair, weight, or brain fog). Hardly anyone has even heard of the ring!
