Okay, I am getting down to the deadline. My homestudy is approved and we should be getting the written approval within the week. I just finished my picture book and birthmother letter. Now I have to place some ads. I was just wondering if anyone else has placed ads and how many states or papers did you place ads with? I am so nervous. I am nervous that I will screw up when I get that first call and I am nervous that I won't even get a call......I can't make up my mind. We don't have alot of money to play with so I have to be really sure where and how many I want to place at one time so that I will hopefully get quick results. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Spookycyster-Thanks for the luck I feel like I am going to need it. I don't know what is more stressful treatments or the whole adoption process. One minute I can't wait to get going and the next I am a nervous wreck. I know it will all be worth it.
Delila - Sorry no advice. But I was so thankful to hear how you feel great one minute and a wreck the next. I have to sign my contract and pay another large sum of money tomorrow - and I've been going back and forth all day - that - YEAH - this will be great - then the next I think - UGH - Maybe we shouldn't be doing this. Its nice to hear that its normal - which I know it is...its just an awful lot to handle. Anyways, good luck!!

Proud mommy to 2 beautiful boys!!

Ange- OMG I hope it is totally normal because I am so up and down it is crazy. I know deep down it is the right thing to do. DH and I were always going to adopt anyway. We just thought it would be the other way around. We would have one first but know it looks like it may be the only way. If I ever get lucky enough to get pregnant after that is okay too, but I think after I take my baby home it won't even matter anymore. Good luck.

You are right....after your baby comes home, you won't care about ttc as much or at all.
We thought we'd get pregnant just like everyone else. Well, that didn't happen. Now that we have ds, I really am not sure if I truly want to go down the pregnancy road. I mean, we had a miscarriage and have had so many heartbreaks along the ttc road. I'm content with how our ds came to be part of our family. I can see us growing our family thru adoption again in a heartbeat.
Hang in there....it's so nerve wracking that you sometimes wonder if it's worth it (especially when you have to write out a huge check and you have no idea how long your wait will be). It will be worth it and more when your little one arrives. Have faith. Your child is out there, just waiting for everyone to be in the right place at the right time.

We are running ads in the Chicago Sun Times. it costs about $141.00 for a 15 day run. I don't know who you are using and how you are running ads? Are you just using a lawyer? That is what we are doing.
Lets chat...LOL I will try whatever i can help you with.

we didn't place any ads. we made a Dear Mirthmother website. i used our free geocities site to do it myself. we've only ever had one reply from it (and it didn't work out) but we've had many, many hits on it.
good luck!

Looking to adopt our Princess
I don't know if they brought anyone any success, but when I worked for a local univesity there were always ads in there from a couple looking for a birth mother as well as parents looking for an egg donation (not the same add!).
Just a suggestion b/c I know university papers would be cheaper than a regular city paper.
