Default Anyone on Prometrium?

These side effects sound scary. I have to start taking them soon to get a bleed going. I'm so freaking worried about the fact that they can cause blood clots and I've already had a major one in my right calf and I'm only 25. That's the reason in the first place my gyno refused to perscribe me BCP which I understand. But she wants me to try it for 10 days to see if I get a bleed because my Met doesn't seem to be working as well as she had hoped. I hate being on so many different meds. I wish I could just lose weight because I know that would help alot.

I took prometrium for the first time last month to enduce AF, i was only on 100mg a day, and I had no problems with it the only se I had was being tired my af wasnt any heavier or worse than normal like I had experienced when taking provera. I can say that while taking it I had the best sleep I had in years lol. Good Luck!!

Oh my gosh I know right! The first night I woke up every hour, but holy moly I've been sleeping like a log. It's almost a shame I only have 7 days left on it, I'm usually an insomniac. I havn't had any other ugly side effects though. But when do you start to bleed?

I start Clomid next week and was perscribed Prometrium as well. I am a little confused as to when to use it. If I understood correctly I take clomid days 5-9 wait for ovulation, have lots of sex and take prometrium AFTER I ovulate....I hope I am right. I think I might have to follow up with my Dr. The side effects for all of the drugs sound very scary!!! I am trying to keep in mind that the Metformin side effects sounded pretty bad and I have barely noticed a thing over the last 5 months.

kittiesmom---I was supposed to take it for 7 days but only had to take it for 5 as I started AF the next morning after my 5th pill. But I think every person is different and it varies good luck.

FSU---I dont have any experience with taking it after AF comes but Im sure it is to help with your progestorone levels. HTH

How long does it take everyone's AF to show up after they stop taking their Prometrium dosage each month? I finished my last pill 13 days ago, and still no AF... I spotted for about half a day three days after the last pill, but so far that's been it. The other times I've taken Prometrium, I've had AF by now. Thanks for your input!

I took provera last month, not the same, but similar. I did the same exact thing, two days after I my last dose I spotted for three days. Very light, only there when I wiped. I actually had a few other days that I stopped in the same manor. On the 14th day after my last dose af finally came. She was stubborn and waited until the bitter end, but she did finally come. From what I have read it can take from 2-14 days after your last dose.

I am also an insomniac, I've had sleep problems for the last 10 years +. Since taking the provera last month I have also noticed I am sleeping much better. I wasn't sure what the cause was, but it's nice to actually sleep through the night instead of waking up every hour to hour and a half. I also don't have the problems falling asleep that I used to. I sure hope this continues long term, I don't want to go back to not sleeping!!

I have read that the Prometrium makes people very sleepy so that could explain the sleeping through the night. I am a little nervous about taking it for that reason too. I am already so tired all the time!

As for AF I am not sure how my body will react to the medication. I have always had a pretty regular period(between 27-31 day cycle). I only found out after charting my bbt for several months that I was not ovulating

I prefer prometrium over the provera. I generally start to bleed about day 6-7. Ok, I have to share a funny story. It was my nieces first birthday and this was my first time to take prometrium. Did I read the label about taking at night? No. I was 5 hours from home at my sisters house. We're getting ready for the guests to arrive and I start to feel funny, like I have never felt before. My speech was slurred, everything was happening, but in slow motion. I was like what the crap is going on. My sister said maybe it was the medicine I took while we were in her office. I thought maybe....well I sit on the couch and my brother in law comes out and asks what's going on and I tell him I just can't think straight. My sister says it's the meds...so my brother in law goes in the kitchen and gets the pills and reads the label and it says take at night time...and we're laughing, and he says well you took it about an hour ago, so you're probably doped up. My sister said "how do you know when she took it, you were getting the balloons, and we were in my office" Robert tells her that I took them in the kitchen when I was getting a diet coke. Then it dawns on me. OH CRAP. I took them while visiting with my sister and completely forgot. When my brother in law came home with the balloons I was like oh, yea. I need to take my meds. DOH. I was doped up for the WHOLE party. There's one for the books. If you ever wanna dope up hubby, tell him they are vitamins!!! *(or if you just wanna check out for the night, lol)
