Hi girls. I was put on birth control last fall after my miscarriage to keep things in check while I recover and prepare for more high tech fertility treatments. I was put on marvelon which I started in december after AF would not show after my M/C. I did the pack in december and finished in early january. I started spotting the last week of pills and started full flow almost immediately after the last pill. Well AF would not leave so my RE told me to take 3 marvelons for 3 days then 2 pills a day for 7 days then 1 pill a day for 21 days. He wanted me to call him if after the third day on 3 pills I was still bleeding heavy. He prescribed Ovral instead and I am to take 3 pills a day until bleeding stops then follow the same regimin as marvelon. The nurse told me this was a very high dose birth control pill and I may feel sick on it. If this doesn't work by the end of the week, I am to go to the emergency room and I will be given a D&C. I had a D&C for heavy bleeding that lasted 6 weeks a few years ago but I wasn't on anything but metformin. Has this happened to anyone while on the pill? I have been bleeding heavily for 3 weeks. (it is starting to lighten now but still comes and goes)

When I was bleeding heavily (about 3 years ago before I was diagnosed with PCOS) I was put on Ovral 2 per day for the first pack, then one per day. It stopped me from bleeding so heavily while I was on the first 3 weeks of pills, but then I was right back to the ER with heavy bleeding whenever I took the week of inactive pills. Then I found a new dr. and was diagnosed with PCOS and put on met. That seemed to help the most.
Hope you get your problem sorted out and they can get you on something to help you

Thanks so much! The bleeding has stopped now but I have to take 2 pills per day for another 4 days then 1 pill for 21 days. My RE said this should be enough time for my uterus to heal and my next period should be normal. I am on met as well.

I hope so too, just have to wait till summer now we missed the clinics deadline for spring treatment and now we're on a waiting list. More than likely summer or early fall. I want to get healthier too and make sure I'm not going to have bleeding problems again.

It must be so hard to wait but it's great that you are looking at it as a chance to be healthier. I hope it goes well for you! As much as I hated waiting to ttc, I was glad my dr. had me wait through a few "good" cycles before I conceived. I felt a little more confident when I did get pg because I felt like my body was more "stable". Best wishes

Thanks so much for your well wishes! It is very hard! I think it's better to wait anyways after having a loss a few months ago. I know we will conceive and go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Just have to be patient.

I know it's hard to be patient! I have not had problems with miscarriage, I cannot imagine how painful that is. My SIL has PCOS and has had miscarriages, she's still ttc. I had just a small taste of ttc w/my daughter. My first 2 sons were born 15 months apart and without really trying. Then my PCOS symptoms hit but it was another 3 years before anyone figured out what was wrong with me. We ttc #3 for about 2 years. For a few months before I got pg, our boys prayed daily for a baby sister. I think that had as much to do with my getting pg as the met did!
Anyway I just hope maybe that will be encouraging to you. Good luck on your ttc journey.

That's such a wonderful story! Your family is beautiful! I have 1 daughter who is 9 and she was conceived without a thought then my symptoms appeared. It took a while to figure out what I had as well. I didn't think much of it so I just went on the pill. Almost 8 years later we're still TTC but more aggressively the past year. I've been through different RE's and I think I found a good one. Thanks for sharing your story, everyone is so wonderful and encouraging here!

You know I've heard of so many cysters who got pg with their first or even second child without really trying, then the PCOS hit. I think that pregnancy and childbirth must have something to do with the PCOS symptoms starting up or getting worse. I've had PCOS symptoms since puberty, but they didn't cause me trouble until after my second son was born. But at least I know what I have now, and I'm able to take care of it.
Good luck, and baby wishes!

Littlebullet, how are you doing on Ovral? I was just put on Lo/Ovral for excessive bleeding. I'm hoping that this clears up. I was wondering about the experiences of other cysters and I found your post in a search.
