Hey guys... Ive been having severe headaches lately... sometimes migrains. I usually have atleast 3 a week. I was wondering if that is a symptom of PCOS. I am currently not on any meds or BCP
I have only been diagnosed since July. I get severe migraines also. I live in corbin, ky. Could it be allergies??? I don't know if migraines are a side effect of PCOS. If you find out let me know.
Do you have a good doctor???
i was just diagnosed about a month ago and I have been having headaches where I feel dazed. They last about two hours or so and sometimes I can't do anthing for awhile.
i've had them lately too. i thought it was cause of my bed or maybe i just needed to go to the chiropractor or something. But then i noticed that it usually is when i get up, and my dr told me that its cause my sugar is so high due to my pcos. but i dont know, i still think i should go get popped and it'd help.

I think there was another post about this somewhere. I had been getting really horrible headaches and migraine medication only made it worse. No Advil or Tylenol won't even make a dent in it. Because of my PCOS I've got blood pressure issues, but of course it wasn't until I found a new doctor that they saw this. PCOS is to blame, of course.
If I eat anything with a lot of salt in it, I'll get a headache normally 2-3 hours afterward. So that could be what it is for some of you. If you can't get your blood pressure taken (They've got machines at walmart, but sometimes I don't trust it) just see if you get the headache after you eat higher sodium foods.

Im not sure if its allergies or not.. it seems like I have headaches more than i dont... Maybe it is b/c of high blood pressure or sugar.. all i know is it sucks and nothing seems to help. Im in the process of looking for a new doctor.. the one i have now seems to busy with other things. I dont feel like im getting enough time with her. When she diagnosed me, all she told me was i had pcos and nothing else... i had no idea what it was until i started doing research on my own. Im not on any meds or birth control right now, so im desperate to find a good doc.. one that knows about pcos. Do you have a good doctor??

Yeah.. I never thought that. It always seems like everything ends of being related to pcos, i was beginning to think i was going crazy before i got diagnosed!
Could be anything from horomone imbalances, high/low sugar levels to simply sleeping incorrectly at night and causing issues with the muscles and joints in your neck. I'd suggest talking to your daughter about it, or possibly seeing a chiropractor. I hope you get some relief soon!

hormones are one of my migraine triggers. I USED to just get a full-blown migraine at the beginning of AF, then one a couple of days after, then pregnancy introduced me to migraines with any little fluctuation of hormones. Post pregnancy, I will still have a nagging headache with hormone fluctuation, with a full-blown migraine just before AF arrives. Ugly things, migraines.
I have suffered from Migraine Headaches since the age of 9. After 7 neurologists, a chiropractor, 2 naturopaths, orthodontists, dentists, 30 different migraine medications, etc... etc... I was sent to UCLA to a neurologist and my first ever blood tests were done that included factors related to PCOS. After seeking out a Reproductive Endocrinologist when I was first diagnosed, I found that my migraines actually WORSENED! I was put on BCPs, and my hormones were CRAZY. I was (and am) overweight. I WAS exercising regularly, and continued to be fat... blah.
He then switched me to Metformin so that my husband and I could further our ttc efforts. Metformin didin't help with the migraines, but I did conceive within a year and a half.
After having my first child, I moved to a different state, got a different Repro Endo, and went back onto Metformin in order to conceive another child. After his birth, I started Weight Watchers, lost a considerable amount of weight. I went back onto Metformin so that I could regain control of my blood sugar (I was constantly dizzy and out of it).
I switched to a more IR way of eating (eating proteins and carbs together, cut out many of the carbs, exercised regularly but not out of control), and my headaches started getting better and better!
I have since allowed myself to gain back a great portion of weight, and haven't taken Met for a while. When I started to feel dizzy again, really outside of myself, and my migraines were back up to 5 times a week, I decided I needed to get back onto Met.
Apparently, my migraines are related to my blood sugars and hormone surges. I am not diabetic, but when I get to a certain weight (around 213 and above), my body doesn't handle my hormones well and I don't metabolize my sugars well. My insulin surges, and I feel gross. When I am on Met, eating a balanced diet without added carbohydrates and sugar, working out regularly, and losing weight, then I only suffer 3-4 migraines a month.
By the way, I was told that the reason my 30 different migraine meds didn't work is because I get a rare migraine - a vaso DILATOR, not contrictor. In most people, migraines occur when the blood vessles dilate. Migraine medications are vaso-constrictors. My blood vessles constrict when I am having a migraine, so the further constricting of the medication only made them worse. Apparently, hormones can sometimes casue this rare migraine. SO, heat helps mine, but not much else.
Hope this helps!

I used to have severe headaches in the morning, before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Have you had a sleep study done? Mine were at least four or five mornings a week....caused from lack of oxygen while "sleeping"

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.

I get headaches and migraines for a lot of reasons. Hormone fluctuations(migraines), Allergies(headaches), weather(headaches that usually turn into migraines), Stress(these start suddenly after feeling stressed and only last for a short time headaches that are at the back of my head). I keep a record of when I have migraines and headaches.
