Anyone with Spinal Cord Injury and PCOS? Hi! I'm pretty much a newbie here...and have loved getting acquainted via posts and chat. Thanks for the welcome! I was looking through threads and posts, and got to wondering if anyone here has ever had a spinal cord injury as well?!
I'm 25 now...but when I was 16 I was in a car accident and crushed my L1/L2 vertebra...as well as a serious spinal cord injury. I am VERY fortunate that after a couple of years that I learned to walk again. Now, I'm well enough that I only wear one leg brace and have a slight limp.
Other than some irregular periods before the accident...I didn't have many symptoms of PCOS. It seems that the trauma seemed to "bring it to life". Don't know if that's true, but I wonder. All those steroids, pain meds....and who knows what else couldn't have been too good, although they were necessary at the time!
I was officially diagnosed with pcos about a month ago....although no big surprise to me. so i've been put on BC and spironolactone. hopefully it'll help the annoying problems of extra hair and thinning hair...and of course the very painful periods when they did come.
well..that's my musings for now...let me know if anyone else has had back/spinal cord injury probs!
have a good day! |
