Thanks for the replies ladies! It's not so much about the time we've put in ttc it's more the m/c's, so even whenever we do conceive will I just m/c again anyway? I've had 4 more m/c's in the time since having DD even with meds which scares me. From what I've read in people with pcos met reduces the risk of m/c from 50% to 20% which is another big reason I want to try it.
My fasting insulin was low but something is happening when I eat that causes my blood sugar to go low after so I think I am making too much all at once. It seems to go high and then too low so I am constantly needing to eat. I have read about people taking metformin b/c they did the GTT and their sugar went low within the two hours, that is my problem. I've also read about some dr's prescribing it to recurrent miscarriers b/c like daily low dose aspirin it can't hurt and might help.
I hope they call soon so if they say no maybe I can convince my family dr to prescribe it to help with my blood sugar. He's not usually so co-operative but I can try! I'll update whenever I hear back!
Outside of the PCOS aspect, I'd say what you are describing in regards to the sugars, is called hypoglycemia
"All carbohydrates (vegetables, fruits and grains, as well as simple table sugar), are broken down into simple sugars by the process of digestion. This sugar enters the blood stream as glucose and our level of blood sugar rises. The pancreas then secretes a hormone known as insulin into the blood in order to bring the glucose down to normal levels.
In hypoglycemia, the pancreas sends out too much insulin and the blood sugar plummets below the level necessary to maintain well-being."
I used to have this happen when I was younger, i'd eat.. half an hour later feel like crap because of it.
Its a matter of what you are eating, and how often. Best thing to help with hypoglacemia is diet, and making sure to eat properly, that being 3 main meals and 3-5 snacks a day. Stay away from processed carbs, natural sugars are better for you, and won't create the same havoc.
I've been taking Metformin for ... i dunno how long now. lol I can't say it has helped this, as it stopped happening for me once watching my diet more carefully.
Ofcourse, i'm no doctor so this is just IMHO

Hi ladies...just new to this part of the board! Never thought to really look around...duhh I know.
Im from just outside of London, have lived in London and Sarnia.
History in a nut shell: We went to the uh and dr Rebel. I did not find her personable, but she did know her stuff. We tried clomid (clomoooood!) and it was nasty and did not work for us. She gave me a script for met and talked pcos. We had 4 m/c before we got to see her. We then went just over a year without pregnancy. I had some no O cycles and was twice given prometrium to get them started.
Decided to give up trying on our own in Nov since we were scheduled for iui in Jan. BFP Dec 06!
Our gyn was dr Tracy Crumley and I could never say enough good things about her!!!! We had our son Aug 07 and he is the light of my life!
Glad to see there are some people near by, sorry we had to meet over pcos!

Hi all...I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Woodstock Ontario. My hubby and I have been TTC since November 2007. I was dx with PCOS in March and have been on Metformin for a week and a half. To my surprise, AF arrived this past Saturday after only a week on Met. I'm hoping that is a good sign.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Appaloosa, welcome to the boards. I am from London Ontario. Are you seeing an RE? I was seeing Dr. Rebel in London, and just got a referral yesterday for Dr. Martin at the SOFT clinic here in London. Hope I have better luck with him. Again welcome and I hope your TTC days are short and you see a BFP soon!

Hi Bay, Glad to see other people from my neck of the woods. So far, I am only seeing my family doctor. Dr. Snider in Tavistock. I have been seeing her for about 3 years and I absolutely love her! She's only a couple years older than I am and has been wonderful. I went off the pill last June and it took 3 months to get AF. Since I had read that it may take a few months, I thought nothing of it. Had AF in September and again at the end of October. Then nothing. It took awhile to get an appointment but I saw her mid-March. As soon as I did, she suggested PCOS, sent me right away for ultrasound and bloodwork and I was back in her office within 2 weeks to get my Met prescription. I feel really lucky that I got such a quick diagnosis. She has me coming back in 3 months if I don't have a BFP by then.
I hope you have more luck with your new doctor and good luck with your TTC. I look forward to chatting with you more.

Hi Rock-Poppit,
I'm also from Brantford (born and raised). Living in Toronto right now, but I spent the first 21 years of life in "the brown". Hope things are going well for you.
