Default Anyone take Seasonale?

I am currently on my first pack of Seasonale. I am really looking forward to having only 4 periods a year! However, I am having some heavy spotting (which is normal for this bcp I know) and was just wondering if anyone else had the same problem. If so, how long did the spotting last? Just want some cysters to share their experiences with me.

TIA

I didn't have any spotting until a couple weeks before the pack was done. I had been on another BCP previously and just transitioned into this one. My OB told me it could take two packs or so before you are really balanced out. I didn't really worry since without BCP's I have AF maybe every 4 to 6 months.

How far into the pack are you? You could try taking 2 pills a day for a week to get it to stop. I did that towards the end, just so I wouldn't be bleeding for 2 plus weeks.

April,
I was on Seansonale with no problems for a little over a year. Then all of a sudden I started spotting. It was no big deal until after about a week, it turned into a period-like flow. I let this go on for about a month and I called my doctor. She had me quit taking them so I could "bleed-out" as she put it. I stopped taking them and then 4 days later, the bleeding stopped. I went to see her and she said that I should try a different pill. She put me on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and the third pill I took, I started bleeding again. I stopped taking those as well. I see no need for me personally to be on BCP's. When I am not on any BCP's my period is like clockwork, I have no cramping or pain, I have very few PCOS symptoms except being overweight and cysts. Anyways, as for my opinion, I liked Seasonale until the bleeding started. I had no bad side effects. Hope this helps.

Chelle, I have two weeks left in pack before I start the placebo pills. I have been spotting for about 3 weeks now. At first just very light on tp only, then gradually to a light flow. I didn't think about taking 2 a day. Thanks for the tip! Did it cause any nausea or breast tenderness when you did that? Your twins are growing so fast, and they're so cute! You were an Aug 04 mommy weren't you? I was one before I m/c, but I remember you.

Jen, sorry bcp's didn't work out for you, but it sounds like you're doing great without them! I have a lot of pain from my cysts and I have endometriosis so I really, really need those bcp's. lol I'm hoping after a few packs things will even out. If not I can switch back to my previous bcp, Desogen, I never had any problems with them. I just liked the idea of having only 4 periods a year! hahaha

Thanks ladies!

April ~ I remember you now! Congrats on having your little one now! Yes mine are getting huge! I think I had a bit of tenderness when I did that, I can remember telling DH to lay off grabbing my boobs around that time. That is what my OB's nurse had me do when I was bleeding early because of a missed pill on my old 28 day bcp's, so I just did it again. It will help stop the bleeding so you don't feel like you've had AF for a month! I am only just starting my 5th week on this second pack so hopefully I won't start that spotting again this time. Also try and take them at almost the same time everyday this will help keep the spotting down also.

Chelle

I am so bad at remembering to take the pill at the same time each night. It's usually after I put Conner to bed and get a chance to *breathe* that I remember to take my meds. And you have TWO babies!! Chelle--you totally rock!!!!

Oh April, you should read what cyster "ABumbyGal" wrote in my thread on this forum (Titled: "The End of Menstruation") She had a HORRIBLE experience on seasonale. Just an FYI.

Thanks for the heads up Diamond. I read her story--wow did she have a rough time on the Seasonale! I think I'll stick with it a little longer and see what happens. The new pill Anya sounds nice, but I worry about the side effects. I am curious to hear more about it though.

I am currently on Tri-Cyclean, taking it for 12 weeks straight (skipping the 4th week on the pills) in attempts to reverse the effects of endometrosis. The doctor asked me if I had ever taken Seasonale and I told her no. She said there were too many side effects and this was the lesser of the two evils. However, for about 1.5 weeks, I've been having some spotting and it's getting worse.

So, I don't know if it's the particular bcp or if it's our bodies just trying to release stuff, ya know? I hope you can get things straightened out soon.

Hugs,
Tina

Thanks for the hugs Tina. I am starting a new pack tonight, so we'll see how it goes. If I get lots of spotting again, I'll probably go back to Desogen and take 8 weeks straight. It's a shame that we have to put up with this. Why can't we be normal?! Good luck to you and ((hugs))

Just wanted to let you know that yes i think its common... The first cycle I tried taking left me with heavy bleeding 1 1/2 months in... I bled very heavy for 3 weeks before I stopped them to let myself "bleed out" then I started them back up again... Wouldn't you know yesterday I started light spotting on TP so I'm curious as to when this will get worse. I have to take bcp's like this to combat endo and other issues... but this pill is by the far the best one that has stabalized the acne and my moods... so really its a no win situation ... Good luck with the rest of it
