Default Anyone take Xanex?

Hi,
I just got back from the Dr. I don't know if I feel better or worse. I felt like I was treated like a number and shooed out the door. I'm feeling really down now. I told him about me breaking out under my arms, and inner thighs-he said, "oh that is just break out from sweat glands, no big deal"...then he dropped the subject. Ok, well they bother me and I was hoping there was something he could do to help me with the breakouts. I told him about my skin tags....he said, "no big deal. if you shave them off, you shave them off"....then subject dropped......I had a list of questions, and every question I asked, I got a quick response and on to the next subject.....

Well then I told him about my anxiety. He said, "comes with the territory of PCOS."....no big deal. like I just bought a rain coat and it comes with the territory of it raining....then he said, "well I guess I can prescribe you Xanex".....I asked for something temporary or mild. And that is what he gave me. 30 pills to take when I get the anxiety feeling. No refils or nothing. Not like I'm asking for a refil, but I'm nervous about Xanex.
Does anyone here take Xanex?
Does it work?
Is it addicting, and can I just stop taking it if I want to?
Does it make you have a funny feeling?

I kinda did a search here for Xanex, but I was wanting response from any of you cysters.
Thank you,

Hi Ericka

I'm so sorry about your experience with the doctor ... if you can, find another doctor. You need someone who will make you feel BETTER not worse after a visit!

I have taken Xanax before... what strength did he give you? I took 0.5 milligram tablets (they are peach). I have to say that for my anxiety issues, Xanax made me feel absolutely normal. It didn't make me feel high or buzzed or drunk or whatever, it just made the crap stop in my head. I only took one about every other day or so - just for about a month while i was waiting on my antidepressant to take effect. I still had a lot left over and have taken them on occasion for a break-through anxiety attack. I wouldn't worry about addiction to them UNLESS you are taking more than 1mg or so a day for longer than a few weeks. If you just take it when you feel an anxiety attack coming on, then you will be fine. Let me know what strength he gave you though, cause if it's 2 mg or something, you should DEFINATELY split them in half or even into 4ths. Take care Hope this helped.

Candace

Oh thank you soooo much for the reply Candace!!!!!
I just recently moved here and it was my first time seeing this doctor. I miss my old doctor so much. He was wonderful!!!! He's the one who diagnosed me with PCOS, and didn't care how many patients he had waitng on him...he took his time...

He prescribed me 30 pills at 0.5 milligram. Like you said as needed when the anxiety hits. I'm so glad to hear they didn't give you a funny feeling...Not that I would complain if it did, but I want to be able to function at work.
I do feel better now about taking Xanex. I guess there are horror stories with every kind of prescription.

Candace I really appreciate your reply.
Take care,
