Hi all,

I was prescribed Yasmin 2 months ago but both months, my periods were horrible. VERY heavy with a lot of clotting, lots of cramping, backache, etc. I just got switched to Desogen, but haven't heard anyone talk about it on these boards. My doctor seems to be pretty knowledgeable about PCOS, but i just wondered if anyone here had taken it. I don't know why the Yasmin affected me like that. it definately wasn't what i expected.

Currently taking Paxil - 40 mgs, Accupril - 10 mgs, and Desogen (BC pill) after a bad experience with Yasmin.

I have taken it before but it was before I ever knew I had PCOS or was ttc. I don't remember having any problems with. Ortho tri-cyclen was the only one that really messed my body up.

I've been on it for 10 years and counting. Started on the brand name before generics came out. Now on generic. If I'm not mistaken, it's also the same as Ortho-Cept.

This one was O.K. for me. It was a little higher in progestin but I felt pretty good most of the time. Periods were lighter on it so that's a plus!!!

Out of all the pills I was ever on, desogen was the BEST for my pcos! I get to be a complete hormonal mess on other bcp's, but I did VERY well on desogen. Good luck!

I took Desogen as my very first bcp, long before any signs of PCOS. I gained about 3 lb and was weepy now and then, but that was about it. My acne at the time improved. I didn't have hair problems or crazy AF back then so I have no basis for comparison. The only pills that ever drove me nuts were TriPhasil (SEVERE nausea 24/7, but I actually lost weight that time) and OrthoTriCyclen which sent me into pure hell (weight spiralled up, cystlike acne, irregular AF).

If I'm not wrong, doesn't the ring have the same chemicals as Desogen? I mean, the same progestin too?
