I was just wondering this, because I took the Met for about 3 years (2000mg for the last year) and I never had af on my own without taking Prometrium. So I finally stopped taking the Met and tried Avandia for 1 year. The Avandia only gave me 1 af the whole year I was on it. So last September I just gave up all my meds. Since then, I have not had a af at all unless I take the prometrium. What's funny is back in 2000-2001 I was on bcp and I had regular periods and before that I was having af sometimes twice a month. Now I can't even have one if I wanted too. It's just so frustrating. I get so tired of having to take the prometrium every single month!!!!!

I've been on met and it hasn't caused af to come, but I do take provera to make af come. I was regular with the bcp, but since I am ttc, I have to stick to the met and hopefully get clomid soon.

What's your diet/exercise situation like? I found that my periods came really inconsistently until I got committed to them. So if you don't already, consider giving that a try...it makes a huge difference hormonally.
Good luck!

To be completely honest, I've always eaten whatever I want. I live in a small town with a very, very small grocery store so it's hard to find a diet that you can actually get food for around here. I don't eat a lot of fast food, which I guess is pretty good. I tend to eat a lot of baked chicken and fish. Starches like potatoes and mac & cheese are my favorite, which I know are not good for me. I am in my average weight and as far as I know I am not insulin resistant. I do try to exercise pretty regularly. I have a walk/jog 30 minute tape I try to do at least 3 or 4 times per week. My periods have never been normal, but before all of this, I would at least have one every now and then. What type of diet and exercise routine do u follow, if you don't mind me asking? Also have you tried any natural remedies to help with af?

I follow the INSULIN RESISTANCE DIET (See this thread for a write up). It was a miracle for my hormones. I was, even on met, 70+ day cycles and when i started incorporating it, it was like a gift for my immovable hormones. The cool thing is that you can still shop at your normla grocery store and nothing is off limits which is why i've been able to be on it for 4+ years. it's a healthy way to eat, even when you're done losing weight.
For exercise i run 3x a week and do at least half marathon and a 10K race every year to keep me motivated.
Haven't done any natural remedies, sorry.
Hope it helps!
