Question Anyone taking Actos?

I am new to this website. I am a thin cyster. I was taking metformin but it was horrible on my stomach. I had to stop because IO lost too much wieght. Endo gave me Actos today and I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of it or taken it before. I had a miscarriage a few months ago, and we are trying to get pregnant again and I am open to any suggestions.

i have the tablets but since i'm low carbing, i don't need it to block glucose in my intestines because i'm not eating enough carbs to raise my insulin much...

Um, to my knowledge Actos nor Avandia block the intestinal absorption of glucose, I think that's Acarbose and met does a little bit.

If the regular Met caused you issues, did you ask your Dr to try the Met ER (extended release)? I had horrible, horrible s/e's with the regular Met and as soon as they put me on the ER I have had no issues at all. It has been a life saver. Good luck!

Default Actos

I'm on Actos and have been for about 3 years now. I got pregnant on it after 3 1/2 years of trying. I went off of it for pregnancy and nursing. I never had any problems with it unitll my doctor upped my dose to 45mg and I stated having heart palps and alot of water retention so I went down to my regular dose of 30 mg. Sometimes Actos can give you a sore throat, it can also make you tired and have a general feeling of "ickiness" but PCOS does that for me anyway. It should be noted that Actos id very hard on you liver and kidneys. You should be having liver function tests every 6 months on this medication. It is kina scary but it is the only thing that has ever made me have regular periods.

Well, I took the Actos. The doc put me on 15mg. The day I started taking it, AF came that night. I am hoping that I will ovulate and get pregnant this month. I was very surprised when it came because I was on day 54 of my cycle. Has anyone else gotten pregnant quickly with it? I was told that it regulates you pretty fast.

I have been taking Actos for two months. I ovulated and had AF on CD30 last cycle. I also ovulated this month, but I am at CD30 and I haven't seen AF yet. By the way, I am also thin, 2 lbs underweight to be exact. My RE didn't want to put me on Met. because it can cause you to loose weight. Plus I have tried both regular and extended release in the past and could not tolerate either.

I ovulated and concieved within 3 weeks of starting actos. I had a hard pregancy but it was sucessful. I have a beautiful 2 year old little boy now. It was a miracle drug for me (as far as getting pregant)

I O'd month 2 of being on Actos. I got pregnant about 7 months after and that was by accident. Wasn't really trying. Now that I am trying, I'm having a difficult time with it. I know its because I'm not as physically active as I was before, and I have gained a little weight. I know that once I make it below 220 I will be able to get pregnant again. How is everyone doing on the Actos so far?
