So Kat, did your hair grow back on flutamide? Just curious because I had a full head of hair and it has thinned out all over. I have more diffuse hair loss more so than the typical male or female pattern baldness in the front top of the hair. Was your hair loss more diffuse or female pattern? or did you just maintain what you had after the loss?

Mostly diffuse...I couldn't run my fingers through my hair, or comb it without there being a LOT of hair all over the floor. I have VERY thick hair, however, so people alway said, "You have a lot, so you'll lose a lot!" Now I know I was losing too much. I also had noticeable thinning at the temples.
After flutamide, the shedding calmed down, and the temples grew back 'mostly'.
These days I wear extensions (because I'm too lazy to do my hair), but my 'real' hair is now back to being VERY thick, and it's down my back (almost to my bra strap.)

It is good to know that there is a possibility that some of my hair will grow back. Thanks for responding Kat! I have been pondering about the flutamide but I wanted to hear from someone who took it and got results. I hope that I can convince my doctor to prescribe it.

Thanks for the article coffeequeen! I read it and the parts that I did understand seems promising.
In conclusion, the present data clearly demonstrate that flutamide is remarkably effective in the treatment of hirsutism, seborrhea, acne, and androgen-dependent hair loss and that it represents a significant improvement in the management of androgen-dependent skin diseases compared with a standard therapeutic agent such as spironolactone.

Kat, what dose of flutamide are you on? Are you on any bcp as well? (I know you can't get pregnant on any antiandrogen)
I've been off all meds for years, so I don't really remember what my dose was. You either have to be on BCP or abstinent. Pregnancy is a BIG 'no' on antiandrogens.
That study posted is the one I carried from dr to dr trying to get someone to Rx flutamide for me - and PROBABLY the reason I started SoulCysters. I really had to DIG to find that study, and I felt there should be a place online where research was readily available!!
