A long time ago, my OB/GYN put me on Metformin, but it made me horribly sick. She said that I wouldn't need it really until I was trying to get pregnant, so I stopped taking it. Now, I am trying to lose weight. A new doctor I started seeing (a diabetes specialist/endocrinologist) suggested I try Glumetza, which she said was similar to Metformin, but has been known to be better for people who get sick on Metformin.
I just wanted to know what other women's experiences on this pill has been. Has it helped you lose weight? Has it made you sick? My biggest problem with it is remembering to take it. It says to take it with a meal, but I am so bad at remembering. Does anyone else have that problem?
My RE gave me a prescription for this and I plan on trying it if I do not end up pregnant this cycle. I too cannot handle Metformin in any dose/combo without severe gastrointestinal side effects. I was told that Glumetza might make me sick as well and to start off slowly, but there is a chance I will be able to handle it. I would love to hear your experiences should you choose to try it!

TIA for all your tips!
I have been looking for someone else on this site that takes Glumetza, LOL. Everyone seems to be on Metformin. I had the same experience as you. As a matter of fact Metformin landed me in the hospital suffering from severe dehydration because I couldnt keep anything in and had absolutely no energy! I started taking Glumetza about 2 years ago. I stopped for a little while and just recently started back. I know everyones experience is different but I lost 60 lbs on it in 4 months. I was sick the first 2 weeks I took it, but it was no where near like with Metformin, now it doesnt make me sick at all. It of course makes you "go" but it's not constant, it's just once after you take it. It works so much better but must be taken with food. If not, it's not effective at all. I take most of my pills at night, it's easier on my tummy. Im prescribed 2000 mg, so i typically take 500mg at lunch and the other 1500 at dinner. Glumetza is typically more expensive than Metformin b/c there is no generic but I believe it is well worth the money.
