Default Anyone taking Lexapro?

I am supposed to start taking it and wanted to know what you felt of it. Did it help you? If so how? What side effects did you experience and what problems did you have before taking it? Did your Dr. also recommend counseling? Did the counseling help?

I am not very excited about taking newer drugs but I took a 10 day sample and noticed a some change but I am not sure that this change had anything to do with this drug.

Hello. I am new to the forum and was actually diagnosed only one week ago, but I can tell you about my experience with Lexapro.

My son has just turned 4. Shortly after I had him I was having lots of trouble. My doctor blamed it on depression.

I took Celexa for a long time after that. About 4 months ago, my mother got some some samples of Lexapro so I decided to give it a try.

I really noticed some positive results the first couple of months and called my doctor to have him call me in a script. After about three months on it I became terribly hungry!!! Worse than normal. I could have eaten every hour on the hour. I battle with my weight enough without any extra help.

When I got to asking around many have experienced that. My doctor changed me to Effexor. I have been taking it for a week and really like it so far.

Hope this helps.

There are many medications, and unfortunately they work differently on different people. This being said, I have tried several, Lexapro being one of them. I did feel much better, but it made me sleepy. It was a pretty good medication except for that. I didn't have any other side effects and I will say that since then I found out I have another medical condition that makes me somewhat more sensitive to anti-depressants than most people so I may have just been taking too much. Good luck. If this one doesn't work go back and ask for a different one. There is no need for you to suffer. Hugs, Lendi
