I was originally put on 100 mg and after 2 months the improvement was noticeable, bt I still had a lot of acne. I am now on 150mg daily and after 3 weeks I have noticed a tremendous improvement.

Ive been taking it for a month now, and I'm getting the dreaded "it gets worse before it gets better" side effect of it. There was no difference in my skin at all, until this week...my chin and upper lip are going crazy with horrible, painful pimples! ACK. I'm taking 100mg a day and waiting impatiently for it to kick in, though i know it may be another few months before then. Has anyone else gotten this side effect? and if so, how long did it last?! It's so painful and embarrassing.

Here's a great side effect, however - my breasts are getting larger! wooop

Hi, this is my first post! Hope somebody reads it!!! I'm sorry it is kind of long!

My main woe is acne, along with irregular periods. In a nutshell, came off the pill in Nov 07 (which had been on for 13 years - Diane, Yasmin) in order to try for a baby, and only had 3 periods for the next 11 months! My GP kept saying be patient, but when I got bad acne I realised my hormones were way out of whack. I've never had great skin but the pill kept it in line, I've tried most anti-b's and lotions and potions, even naturopathy. I realised I might have PCOS so made my GP refer me to an Endo and yes I have PCOS.

I've been on Metformin 2000mg a day for 4 months in the hope of helping me to regulate my periods which I hope will help balance out my hormones and my skin. Its not done anything for my skin but I have had a period which is encouraging. Reached crisis point a few weeks ago when wanted to cancel my birthday party cos of my face! Made another appointment at Endo as my skin is worse than ever - cystic & pimples, all over my face whereas before it was just my chin, now its my chin, cheeks, jaw, neck & forehead. Annoyingly, not anywhere on my body people don't immediately see!

Started Spironolactone 3 weeks ago, on 100mg a day and just wondered if anyone else has had success being on Metformin & Spironolactone together and how long I should give it. My Endo is talking about maybe moving me on to Cyproterone which sounds pretty strong. I don't want to go back on the pill as I have had all this upheaval coming off it, plus would like to start a family once my hormones are a bit calmer (which I am putting on hold while I am on Spiro as it can be harmful to a baby.

Cheers x
