Default Anyone taking Metformin and Actos?

I just went to a new specialist who I like very much. He told me he wants to put me on metformin and Actos. Does anyone know about this combination? I'm hoping it will help us to get PG w/o all the fertility meds. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I am on Metformin and Actos. I started metformin in the spring of 2002 and they just kept upping my doses but still no period, so they added actos in June of 2004 and I have periods every couple of months now...so I think the actos helped in that regard. So now I take metformin 850 mg 3x daily and Acots 45mg 1x daily.....However, I am now on the prometrium and then will start clomid to assist in trying to conceive.

I do like the fact that I get periods now every couple of months and I attribute that to the actos but I do feel like I retain more water on the actos, and for that reason, I wish I wasn't on it. Plus I have minimal prescription insurance so the actos costs me like $175 out of pocket every month! Yikes!

OK, so there's my info. I hope that is a little helpful!

I'm not taking met & actos, but just actos by itself. I love it! On met (even after 2 1/2 years of upping my dosages) I never ovulated. On my fifth cycle with actos I started ovulating. I've never felt better. Good Luck,

I'm on both, and it seems to be working (mostly). My periods are still working on getting more regular, but I've had issues with remembering both meds. The nurse at my doctor's office told me to take the Actos in the morning, and met with my evening meal. I have a tendency to forget the actos in the morning (not much of a morning person) and I'm not sure if it's okay to take all meds at the same time. If anybody knows if it's okay to take all at the same time, please let me know.

Thanks!

Thanks! I go back on Wednesday to see results from my latest Glucose tolerance test. I just started the South Beach Diet. If I can get pg w/o the fertility meds, it will be great! Fertility is sooooo expensive and insurance doesn't cover it! Again, thanks for all your help!
