A friend of mine has PCOS and was on BCP's for a while. She got pregnant the first month she went off them and had a successful pregnancy. Has anyone done this, gone on BCP's to get regular AF and control the PCOS then go off and get pregnant right away? I'm just curious if she just got lucky or if getting pg right after going off BCP's actually works with PCOS?

I'm currently on BCP for that reason. We had originally opted to take the pills to try a natural cycle, but after talking to my Doctor and explaining to him our situation, he agreed to try a few more cycles of Clomid. I'm going to stay on the BCPs though until April, and things settle down a bit in my life.
A lot of women take BCPs for a while because it might lead to a period and normal ovulation right after they stop. It's worth a shot!

I've not personally done it but I do find that bcps help me incredibly when I stop them. I get regualr periods after stopping the pill, which I didn't get before. It is as though my body gets into the rhythm of it!
I have read lots of stories on this site of people successfully doing this!
I spoke to a nurse about this and she said she has seen great results through taken bcp and then getting pregnant after stopping.
That was the plan my ob/gyn used for us. I took BCPs while getting fit and dropping weight through diet and lots of exercise and 5K runs. They helped immensely with my symptoms. I stopped taking them mid-November and became pregnant on my second cycle off the pill. I fully believe that regulating my cycle with Bcps (desogen in my case) and losing weight was the silver bullet for us.

In October 2006 my GYN put me on Yaz for three months in an attempt to shrink a cyst. I went off it in December, had af and a week later I told dh I thought I was ovulating. I must have been because January 2007 I got my first BFP. I had a very normal and healthy pregnancy despite my age and T2 diabetes. When Hannah was 8 months old I was surprised with another BFP. I was breastfeeding and af had not even returned to normal cycles. I had another normal and healthy pregnancy.
Along with being on Yaz for three months, I was also on 2000mgs a day of Metformin for my diabetes. The combination of the two medications controlled my appetite and I lost about 30 pounds. I was a bit apprehensive about going on BCP but I'm glad I did. It really helped.
