Default Anyone tried Amberen?

So my best friend was dx with PCOS about a month ago. She's one of those freaks of nature, you know... at 26, she's 5'9 and 120 lbs. Anyway, her doctor told her to start taking Amberen. She's been on it 2 weeks and claims it has changed her life. She got her period after 1 week taking it (didn't have it for over it year before it either).

I wanted to see if anyone else has heard anything about it or has tried it. It is kind of expensive, so I'm wanting to hear some results first before I try it.

Default I tried it but not for the same reason

I am surprised to hear that someone so young is taking Amberen but am happy to hear it's helping her too! I was looking for something natural and I just started taking Amberen as I had a total hysterectomy. I like it so far but it is too soon to tell. At least I haven't had as many mood swings but I am still having a hot flashes, though they're not as bad as they used to be. I've never tried anything but HRT since I had my surgery. I've was on HRT for 6 months and my doctor decided to take me off it as I hated how it felt. I am really hopeful as my symptoms are improving slowly and it's only been week.

I am glad they are improving! She's still taking it, its been almost 2 months now. She swears she is a different person now. She has more energy, she's lost 10 lbs, has a regular 28 day cycle, etc. I really want to try it... but the herbs I am taking are working well enough right now that I am scared to change what I am doing.

Default Amberen

I'm a 59 year old who had a hysterectomy in 1979. I have had hot flashes for 15 years, and not just a few, I average 20-60+ a day. Needless to say I've tried everything. I was on HRT for 2 years and loved it, but had 2 pulmonary emboli and had to go off of it forever. I'm just starting Amberen (3rd day). If it works for me it should work for anyone!!! So far I've only noticed fewer, but more intense hot flashes (not the preferred result)!!! I'll keep you posted on results as time goes on.
