Hi - Although I've visited this site often, this is my first post. First of all, I'm glad to see there are other thin women out there with PCOS. I was beginning to feel very alone. Second - I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried natural progesterone cream. I've started using it mainly to control my mood swings and fatigue. Anyone tried it, for what reasons and what were the results?
Hi, I use NPC during my lp. I've been using it starting around cd17 and stop twelve days later in order to get af. So far I sleep better during the night (hardly ever wake up), have less acne, less spotting, and more normal af.

i've just bought some wild yam cream. i'm going to start using it today. any ideas for how long i should use it? i was thinking twelve days, like bekah said she used npc for... does this seem right?
the girl in the shop couldn't tell me anything, as they sell it for menopause. but, that's provera's main use, too. she didn't seem have a clue that it could be used otherwise.
how long should it take af to start after stopping the cream?
thanks
hannah

Hannah - I've been using Pro-gest. The directions included with it say you should use it from day 14 through day 28. I have actually been getting AF before I stop using the cream (about day 21), but I've only been using it for about two months so maybe my body is still adjusting to it. If you are not getting AF at all, it says to pick a calendar day and make it day 1, then from day 1 through day 7, do not use the cream. From day 8 through day 30 (or 31) use the cream twice a day. As soon as AF begins, stop the cream and count that as day 1. Hope this makes sense.
I use Pro-Gest too. I noticed differences the next af. Usually mine had been lasting up to two weeks, and not light either. This last one was five days! Talk about great. Before I'd have to buy two or three boxes of tampons & pads because it was so heavy (sorry if tmi) for so long, and this time it was heavy for three days and then gone. Amazing!
Oh, I had a typo before. I start the NPC on cd14 and go until cd 26. Sorry.

With using the Pro-Gest do you get a lot of bloating? For two months now it seems that two days after AF stops I get terrible bloating. I know bloating before AF is normal, but what about after? Since I've never had this before starting NPC I just decided it was probably due to that.
Hey eveyone...it was nice to read all your posts...
about me..i think finally i have to accept that i am a thin cyster... all these months i have been considering myself as obese..although losing about 10lbs could definately help me feel better and maybe restore my ovulation. I am 5 ft and weight about 130lbs.
about me, took my first round of clomid in march, had all negative OPKs but maybe...just maybe..i ovulated before cd 14 (thats when i started OPKs) wishful thinking hun!!!:p
well, progestrone test will be available on tuesday-wednesday...that will tell me where exactly is stand!
although i do not have IR i do feel i crave for carbs..specially bread and rice! I am trying to follow the IR diet.. but havent lost any weight on it.
a few months ago i had started Low-carbing and has lost about 6 lbs in a short span of time and i was feeling great about it... about just then my gyn said i did not need to low carb as i did not have IR............ somehow i am not sure anymore!
well........ to end it all ....... i am going back on the low carb if my progestrone is low........ and once i lose those 10lbs i will try and manintain it wth IR!!!
well.........i just felt like talking to someone and thought this was a good time to join the thin cysters!
good luck to all!

Actually, I get bloated a lot. I think because of the Met. If I eat something in abundance that I shouldn't, I blow up like a balloon. I haven't noticed it in regards to NPC. I'll keep an eye out this cycle to see.

I was thinking about trying progesterone cream. However, my estrogen levels are normal - it is high testosterone that is my problem. I have heard this cream only works to raise the estrogen. Does anyone know if it works to lower testosterone?
when i got my diagnosis, i was told that my testosterone levels were too high, but not told anything about estrogen. i had thought that the reason for using progesterone cream was because there was a lack in progesterone.
what i can remember from my anatomy class (it's been over a year now, and my books are in a shed 5000 miles from me) is that during a normal cycle from the point that an egg is released (about 14 days until the start of the next cycle) the follicle that contained the egg is sort of waving about releasing progesterone. it does this in case the egg gets fertilized. if the egg doesn't get fertilized before the follicle runs out of progesterone, the absense of the progesterone triggers the shedding of the uterine lining. then you start a new cycle.
if you're not releasing eggs, which is what can give that string of pearls-- polycystic ovary look, then the progesterone never gets released, and because it isn't there, it can't go away, so you don't get a period.
so, we use progesterone suppliments, in cream or pill form, stop using it, then get a period, mimicing that hormonal part of the cycle that doesn't happen for us.
if anyone else can improve on or add to what i've said, please feel free to do so.
hannah
