Talking Anyone Tried VANIQA

Has anyone tried Vaniqa? It is a cream to help stop the growth of unwanted facial hair. I was thinking about talking w/my Dr. about it but, wanted to ask you girls if you have tried it & what type of results you had with it? ESPECIALLY if you have sensitive skin. That is my *biggest* fear about putting a cream on my face... I would rather stick w/what I'm doing to "hide" the hair than have a rash break out - lol.
Thanks a ton

I have tried it. I have a doctor friend who prescribed me with a tube just to try it out and see if it helped. At first, I wasn't diligent about using it, but once I started applying it regularly, I did notice some improvement fairly quickly which surprised me.

My doctor gave me a Rx for it but it was really expensive, $60 for a tube, and my insurance which usually has great Rx coverage wouldn't cover any of it.

I tried it a few years ago. I saw no results with it and at the cost of $50 I quit using it after about 2 months. Insurance didn't cover it either.

Well - that sucks. I have United Healthcare and a SHPS Visa - wonder if the SHPS card will cover the expense.. I guess I'll call... I would love to give it a try...

I used it for a few months and had very good success. The hair on my upper lip diminished and I would say by the time I was on it for 2 months, the hair growth was decreased by at least 50% and the hair that did grow in, grew in much much slower. I still had to wax my upper lip but there was less hair growing in.

After it worked well on my upper lip I decided to try it on the hair under my chin. I don't wax there because I had too much fine hair that could barely be seen and I know that by waxing it or trying to remove it - its just going to become terminal hair that's impossible to remove and thick and dark. The hair I do have there that I tweeze because once its started you can't stop the hair is so dark, thick and grows so fast - was becoming an incredible pain to tweeze. I was shocked after using the Vaniqa that the hair I removed there just did not grow back at all - a few hair here and there but the worst of them that had seemed they were stuck there with crazy glue making tweezing so hard and causing so many ingrown hairs from them breaking off while trying to remove them - those bad hairs didn't grow in at all.

Unfortunately - I think I've developed a respirtory allergy to the cream and had to stop using it.

My first tube bought in October is still going strong late Feb and I think I had at least a months worth left. You only need a little bit - you tend to use a bit more when you're first using it and then realize its not necessary and use the barest minimum. IMO, a tube that lasts 5-6 months for $55 is a great deal.

The best price I found was Drugstore.com - it was $50 just raised to $55 - my druggist told me he can't buy it that inexpensive.

Hope that helps - I would give it a try - remember you don't have to use a lot and it spreads quite nicely

It is considered cosmetic. Insurances won't cover it. I quit after 1 month because of the cost, ask your doctor for samples. They get them free from the manufactures (ANY prescription), my didn't have any so I didn't worry about it.

ive seen good results with it and fortunately get it in the UK on prescription for £6. ive been using it for almost 9 months, and only started my 2nd tube after about 6 months. they do last ages. it hasnt got rid of the hair but i deffo feel it has slowed it down/decreased the amount. i only use it on my sides of my face - dont have such a big issue anywhere else but i cant see that it wouldnt work just as well.

anyone in the uk - i would deffo say go speak to your doctor and try it coz for £6 its well worth the go and has improved my situation big style. feel much less self conscious and even occasionally wear my hair up which i would NEVER do before.

good luck if you do go for it xx
