I went to a dermatologist to have a spot looked at and we talked about the pimples I get at certain times of the month. He gave me a prescription for Erythromycin because he said it's safe to take while TTC and pregnant. Has anyone tried this for acne? Did you have any luck?
Thanks,
Shari

I used it when I was TTC (over a year) and it REALLY cleared up my skin!! I stopped using it once I got pregnant. My doctor didn't say I have to, but my skin has really cleared up and I didn't need it anymore.

Thanks for posting about this...I have no experience with it, but I have a dermatologist appt. next Friday. I am 10 weeks PG and since I am unable to take what I usually do, my cystic acne is getting pretty bad and it's actually the thing that bothers me the most above any of my pregnancy symptoms.
I haven't had much luck with anything topical, but I will mention this to him.

I was using it and my RE said to quit as soon as we found out we were pregnant (which was 3dpo - I felt icky and knew something was up, confirmed at 10dpo). My OBGYN still will not let me use anything on my acne as I am nursing. It worked quite well though.......Liz

Thanks for the info ladies. UGH, these doctors are driving me crazy with these mixed messages. My dermatologist said it's OK to use while TTC and pregnant. He said it's the only one he'd prescribe in this situation. I'll ask my OB about it. I'd rather play it safe, so I'll probably skip it and deal with the monthly breakouts.
I did in fact ask my mother this past week. I was curious. She said they would NOT prescribe it during pregnancy or TTC. They avoid anything that soaks into the skin like that. So she said stick to witch hazel or a nice mild soap. I trust her not just because she is mymother but becasue she works for one of the top dermatologists (how about a 3-5 month wait for an appt. with him?).
