Default Anyone trying to grow their hair long??

what there is of it??

I used to have long long hair all natural curley and wavy and then like a dummy i cut it all off, and am trying to grow it back. But its so fine and thin now, no body, and i'm trying to grow it out. I'm just able to get it in a ponytail (well more like a rat tail ) and i'm wondering about getting permed.

Anyone do that with natural curley hair thats gone lifeless?? If hair is really thin will a perm work...ive never had one i dont know

Actually i was noticing a major receeding hairline, before i got pregnant my forehead was getting larger and larger, and after i had the baby with the post partum hormones it got really scary, my hairline was awful. It seems to have calmed down now, and i started using this new shampoo called Murad http://www.davexlabs.com/ that was recommended instead of nioxin by my hairdresser...omg you should see the new hair growing on my receeding hairline its awesome!! That hairloss cannot be due to pregnancy i dont think cuz it was there before i got preg, so i would say i've had some success with growing hair with this shampoo. It makes my head tingle like ive smeared it with minty toothpaste...its kind of weird but i love it...and now my hair is getting longer and filling in again but its still very very lifeless. It took color really well but now i want my curls back too...

sorry i got a little windy... did the doc say why your hairloss was so out of control??

Mine is due to PCOS ... too many androgens whereby some women get loads of beard growth, acne or what ever it affects my hair teh way a man does .. I too have receeding hairline issues and temporal loss ... its also diffuse in that I shed a LOT .... i saw a derm and an endo and both said the same that I have androgen genetic alopecia but as I have PCOS its more the male pattern than a female patterhn !!! oh how GREAT is tha !! with androgen genetic alopecia its impossible to stop or halt it .. otherwise we would never see balding men !!! its been an incredibly traumatic experience so far

I don't have too bad a problem with the hair loss, and I have really thick hair. I too am trying to grow mine back out long, but I don't have your problem.

I will say though I think the perm is a really bad idea. That's damages hair that's normal and healthy; I can't imagine what it would do to hair already thin and falling out. I would strongly advise against that. My sister has really thin straight hair and it will never take a perm anyway.

I would see a doc about the hair loss. He/she may be able to prescribe/suggest something to fix/help it.
