Was just wondering ,i love all the advice on here its invaluable to me but was wondering how many? or from the UK ?,

Would be great to talk to people who have the same experience as me ie GP'S not just the met if you get me

Hi honeyakon,

I'm from the uk also on metformin but on the slow releasing ones and trying to lose weight. The first week on metformin I was okay 2nd week had very light period for about 6-7 days then had spotting on 22CD and I've had no show since I'm on 45CD and still waiting for AF. As for this week I'm going to up my dosage to 1500mg and see how I
get on. How are your AF ?? Are you trying to concieve ???

Hey Eva, Thanks for the gift I def needed it earlier today as I got soaked!! I tried to PM you back but this darned site stopped me as I havent been on here long enough!

So, hows it all going ladies?

I'm doing ok so far, just biding my time upping dosages slowly waiting to see the results.

How long have you all been on for? Is it def working for you all then?

ive been on met since about 2002 - and it helped me loose weight, which is great!

Hiya thanks for all the replies .

Iv been on met for 6 weeks i think ?.Started at 500mg and got AF within 4 days. No real side effects apart from met bum lol the once on day 2 ,Started to get ov surges for the first time in two years . But before i think i would of ov'd i upped to 1000mg and started bleeding have been spotting on and off for three weeks till last tue when started af heavy and constant. Still here im on day 7 nearly and no idea when it will stop ,but i upped my met on sat to 1500mg still no side effects apart from bleeding and occasional hypos (not sure if that's spelt right ?).

I am ttc have been for a year or so was diagnosed in June and told to go lose weight??(gave me no advice just sent away to look it up on net !!). Iv lost weight and have two stone left to go before i can have treatment im already under the care of a fertility clinic so that bit is sorted. Just cant have treatment till i lose some weight (iv lost 5 stone but got two more to go ).im not ov'ing at mo so hopefully with the help of met ill ov again and get my cycles under control.

I have two kids youngest is 5, and i got married a week ago and would love a baby with my husband so much. But was a real shock to be told i had pcos and was not ov'ing but a relief too as i then knew why i have such a problem with my weight and other things since i was preg with my daughter .But i never thought when i started to ttc that i would still be trying a year and half on?, Ok iv lost weight now and im sorting things out and i do have two kids but that need for a baby with my husband is strong and i get very upset yet happy for friends when they get preg. As most the time its unplaned and i wish it could be that easy for me .

I think my biggest hurdle was the doctor side of it hence asking if anyone was uk based?. as then they might know what im on about because although my GP is great i would not have been given met if i had not done the research. and i know i might not get preg but it might help to sort me out for me to get closer to getting a bfp one day if you get me lol.

sorry iv gone on but its nice to speak to others that are going threw the same or simler as me

Also No worries Karen, I get confused with all the names! and who is saying what on here on the longer threads too!! lol

I've been on Met for almost a month now, haven't had a period for almost a year now, so hoping it's going to arrive soon! Although I'm sure when it does finally arrive I'll be glad to get rid of it! lol
Been real ill on it so far though! Had the trots on and of for the last few weeks! Worth it in the end though! think I'm on quite a high dosage though, so I suppose it's expected! Good luck with all your treatment ladies! Nice to meet you all xx

Hi Ladies,

I'm also in the UK, though as the name says, I'm Canadian. Been here for 3.5 years and wishing that Bristol was drier.

I'm also on Met, have been for about ten months (I think), and don't have a lot to say about it really. I'm on 1700mg a day, not ovulating, not losing weight, just waiting now to be referred to yet another specialist. The gynae did tell me to stay on met for the time being despite noting getting results thus far. Hopefully, the reproductive endo will be more interested in my case.

My GP's left the local surgery, so I'm not really anyone's patient at the minute. I'll let you know when I hear from the RE, and let you know what I think of the doctors here when I see her.

Just thought I would say Hello - Im also in the UK, I live outside of Bath and I've just joined this site. I started taking met about 3 years ago and am now TTC since Dec. I have had 2 previous early M/C.

Hello ladies I too am in the uk and have 2 daughters with pcos both with very different symptons.
It is so hard to get an expert to help you here I have become obsessed with finding information and then going to my gp to challenge.
My youngest duaghter is losing her hair any thoughts anyone I am desperate??

Hi Joanna,
Although I have only experienced a little hair loss, but has improved since treatment. I know of many other sufferers experiencing it far worse. Has your daughter been put on any kind of treatment yet? Like metformin? I heard that there is a herbal treatment that can help and has worked wonders for some! Anyone else know the name I'm thinking of????? xx
