I am just wondering how many of you use the met. to have normal periods?

I'm still trying to use it for regular AF. I'm CD15 today, we'll see how long this cyle lasts!

You may want to ask on the TTC board or the mommy board too.

I used to to regulate... It sure worked! Three week cycles to the day... but at this point I'll take any form of regulation!!

Default yup

I was on bc forever, and when I went off it took three cycles with provera to induce. After that i twas SORT OF regular with long cycles. But when I mentioned I wanted to TTC my RNM (in RE) gave me met. 4 cycles completely regular, had my period on the 18th of every month... and then conceived. So I wonder what it will be like after birth. It certainly made a difference to my body.

Are you considering it?

zEBRA,

I started Met. back in April of 2003 and got pregnant in May of 2003. I was put on it to help me conceive and it definitely did the job. But I never had a chance to see if it would regulate my periods or not? I have been on Birth control since I had Micah and I am wondering if I should see if my periods might be regular (which they never have been) or just start the Met. Any advice?

I just went on met last week. so far the side effects are not too bad. I am on 1000mg right now and will increase to 1500 in two months if i don't have AF.

I am hopeful

Default worth a shot

trustingod, it sounds to me like the met definitely produced a "normal" cycle for you, at least normal enough to conceive ;-)

So it sounds like met definitely has a positive impact on your body. I'd say go for it.

Now whether or not you want to try it to see if you have regular cycles on met is up to you and/or your doc. (whom you would have to get on yoru side for the prescription at least)
If you have alternate means of b/c then I'd say try it. I was on bcp for so long that I just wanted to try being without it. Starting to take the met was a couble bonus in the end regualting cycle and conceiving. But I went about 2 years without bcp to see how my body felt about it. If I had known about the met at the beginning of that I think i would have gone for it then.

But personally I would go for met INSTEAD of bcp not on top of it. so without alternate b/c and a 6month old, I am not sure if I would try the met now ;-)
(on the pregnancy board there are two or three mommie's-to-be with 1st ones less than a year, IYKWIM)

How does your doc feel about the met in general? Is he/she liberal with the prescription?

Either way good luck!

I am a normal weight PCOS. I have cystic ovaries, lack of periods, did have a lil weight gain if not on Meds, IBS/Bloating. Elevated androgens. Recently tests said my estradiol was low at 29 whatever that is. Wel anyways I am taking 2000mg Met. Started in Feb '04. I received my period after 12 days. I received a 2nd period in March exactly 28 days later and received my 3rd period 37 days later. My last period was in May. I have not received another one since that on Met. I have an appt with my gyn to see about possibly inducing a period. I dont know why Met is acting weird like this. I did here it may take a year or so to fully adjust my body. Who knows...any others like me or experiences similar?
