I read reviews on it when they first came out and the reviews stated that even though is was really effective, comfortable and not on you mind constantly, like taking a pill every day, that is was a pain to get out and really gross and slimy.
I don't think I personally could handle it, sounds kinda like a diaphram deal to me. I would like to try the patch though after the baby is born..

Thanks for the link and the info. I don't know about leaving anything for 3 weeks though. I mean you can't leave a tampon in for more than 4-6 hours, and even the menstrual cup should be taken out and cleaned once every 12 hours ... how is this ring any different?
Hmmm...

I did some research on this for a class I was teaching, and it looked interesting. I would be interested in hearing from someone who has used it -- particularly if they can feel it or if their partner can feel it-- or if it gets knocked out of place during sex.

Actually it works very differently than a diaphragm. It is a flexible plastic ring that sits in your upper vagina and delivers hormones through the vaginal wall into the bloodstream, and you only have to put it in and remove it once a month instead of every time you have sex. And while a diapragm actually blocks the cervix, the ring doesn't block anything, it just sits against the skin.

I believe the reason you have to remove a tampon/ cup is because bacteria can begin to grow in the menstrual blood, and you do not want to provide a hospitable environment for those bacteria. The ring does not trap anything in the vagina, so the natural balance of bacteria and the body's self-cleaning mechanisms are not disturbed, and the ring itself is plastic, which is normally not a good growth media for bacteria.
Can anyone tell I am a biology teacher? Try explaining this stuff to rooms full of 15 and 16 year olds.

If AF shows up and I ever get to use it I'll post some feed back
It sounds indteresting ... I just worry about taking it out. Some of the info I read said it does get easier once you've done it a few times ... hahah!
