Wink anyone want to adopt and still ttc?!?!

ever since i was a child, i had such a heart for adoption. when i was like 10years old i literally sat my parents down and told them everything that i would give up if they just adopted a child, lol. well they never adopted, but my passion for those children in need never went away.
for as long as i can remember ive known that i would build my family through adoption & biological children. when i first got my diagnosis of PCOS, i was like duh...maybe ive always had this passion because God knew that was the way i would end up having my family. i really felt for several months that i wouldnt have biological children.
we are still actively trying to have biological children and lately i have so much more hope about it!

but we also know that we want to adopt! we went to a foster to adopt meeting in our town and learned about that program. we definitely want to adopt through social services one day, but emotionally we are not ready. i know im not strong enough for that yet, im barely strong enough for all of this TTC stuff! we also would love to adopt internationally one day! we want a large family, 5 kids or whatever God gives us!

so i was just curious if anyone else has plans *or dreams* of adopting sweet children one day!?

I have thought about it off and on.. I know that if I haven't had my own by the time I am 28 I will be adopting I am pretty sure.. That way we have quite a bit of time to try as well as have fun with each other if nothing else... LOL

Yes, us! We have been thinking of adoption for a few years now, just because I too have a heart for abused/abandoned children. We read this awesome book by Russell Moore called Adopted For Life (a Christian adoption book) and it cemented in our hearts that it's what we want, whether or not we have biological children.

We'll probably not ever stop trying for kids (up to about age 37 or so), but we're going to start seriously researching adoption in about a year. My husband gets his masters degree next June. Once he starts his job, we'll start filling out the papers. We are SO excited! I love children so much. We want 4 or 5, or like you said, as many as God gives us!

Yep! I could have written those exact words. Being a wife and mom is my goal, and I WILL reach it. I do admit I pretty badly want a biological kid or two, but I also yearn for 2 or 3 adopted children. I will gladly take an unloved, unappreciated child and love them so much my heart will hurt!

More than once I've dreamed about finding a little girl and even though in the dream I know she's adopted, I feel like I love her just as fiercely as if she were my own bio child. I wake up after those dreams and get so excited at the prospect of adoption.

I know there are a ton of books on the subject, but yeah, I TOTALLY recommend the Russell Moore book. Hubby and I were sitting in a Christian book store reading it and both of us had tears running down our cheeks. LOL!

Be prepared for the chapter that ends with him singing in the car with his sons. I don't think I've ever cried harder at a book!

I seriously feel like I could have written your original post. My sister is 9 years younger than me and my parents talked about adopting when she was born. Ever since then I knew I would adopt. It was actually one of my "criteria" for my DH. He had to be in agreement with it. So after 13 months of TTC, we still want to actively try but want to start the adoption process right after Christmas. DH will finish his masters and we will be moving so we want/NEED to be settled. ALSO....I work for CPS in Texas as a foster care caseworker. I see the struggles every day in the lives of these children. They need AWESOME parents like y'all that want to give them the life they might never have had. I too feel like this TTC journey and then my job with CPS is God's way of opening my eyes to adoption even more. It's also shown my husband how passionate I am about it so it becomes more important to him, too!

Anyway, as long as I am working for CPS we cannot do foster to adopt and since we want ages newborn to about a year, and I know at least in Texas, it's almost impossible to have a straight adoptive placement of children that young.

Good luck with your decision!! There are some awesome kids out there literally dreaming of loving parents!! All of this talk makes me so excited!!

I'm very interested in the possibility although I deeply want to carry a baby as well. For many years I thought I would only want to adopt. My DH is concerned about whether it would be hard to have both biological and adopted children. At this point we're focusing on TTC but adoption regardless of outcome isn't off the table at all.

and yes we know that getting a straight adoptive placement of a newborn is HIGHLY unlikely through the state...but we havent decided on age groups just yet! and i think it would be a joy (and heart wrenching) to do foster to adopt...but thats the most likely way to adopt an infant.

DH and I have talked about adoption many times over the last 10 years even before we started TTC over um 5 years ago. DH's mother was adopted and he and I both think that it is a wonderful thing to give a child any child a home who needs one. We even agree that it does not need to be a baby cause children of all ages need homes too. Although one thing at a time. I told him I want to TTC and finish remodeling our home first before setting out on an adoption adventure.

Oceansix-- I agree we have to keep each other updated on the process!! I also noticed that 3 of us have DHs in college right now! We are trying t
not to accumulate any more debt so DH refuses to use anymore student loans so we are paying for his school out of pocket...so he isn't taking many classes at a time...blehh it feels like he will never finish!!
