I have just been Diagnosed with PCOS, but haven't seen any speciallists yet, I am still waiting just to get an appointment! What can I expect? I am TTC, so I know that will effect what treatments I recieve...I haven't been TTC'ing that long, But am curious, how long do you have to before they look at giving a little help in that department?
I'm originally from Kitchener. Born & raised.
However, I now live in western Canada.
There are many women from the tri-city area around here. Hopefully they will pop in & say hello.
As for your questions. Some doctors say that you should try for a year. However, if you have PCOS, you may want to slightly exagerate the length of time that you have been ttc, because it can sometimes take awhile to get into see specialists and before you know it, you have wasted unecessary time. Treatments depend on the severity of your PCOS symptoms. They should start with the basics. Tests to check your lining, tubes and SA for your DH, From there the next step will probably be Metformin &/or Clomid, and time intercourse, or IUI. Definately something to speak to your doctor about.
Good Luck!

That helps some, I just don't like this not really knowing.... I have done reseach but it doesn't really give time frames for when and how things happen. I am also curious about the doctor's here. I am hoping the endocrinolgist is good, cause he is the only one around, and I don't really want to drive to Toronto or London. At least I know the GYN they sent me to, he was my OB with my DD.
hey tea... I'm in Kitchener and am currently seeing Dr. Halmo... he's an OBGYN... I would love to chat with you and share your experiences, etc. who are you seeing currently? we should get into better contact... if you wish!

I'm in Cambridge and just got referred to Dr. Green (OBGYN).
My family doctor told me to give it a year TTC before looking for help, but because my periods are so irregular/infrequent we're going to start earlier. It'll be about 6-8 weeks before I can get in to see Green anyways so it'll be like 10-11 months TTC.
I'm in Cambridge as well. I told my family doc that we tried for a year with no luck, she did blood work and u/s and she referred me to Dr.Chan. I was unofficially diagnosed (the receptionist left me a message that I potentially have PCOS when she left me the info for the OGBYN appoint. but my OBGYN never said anything -probably didn't want to scare me and wanted to see how it all went), however I have had many symptoms since my teens. We conceived on our 2nd round of clomid.
