Default anyones acne worsen from BCPS?

I just started Yasmin a little over a month ago and my acne is worse than ever. I thought it was supposed to have the opposite effect? Has this happened to anyone else?

Mine didn't really get worse...it started coming in cycles. At the beginning of the month my face is pretty clear and by the time AF shows up it's a mess.

hiya,

I have to agree, I went on dianette about 5 years ago when I was 17. I went from having about 6 cysts to about a faceful of 100 (yep I actaully counted them)! I kept going back to my GP who told me to stick it out, but nothing improved after 6 months usage of it. Diannette was supposed to block out the male hormone so in turn should have improved my spots!

Only now, can I look back on that time, I went on roacutane 40mg a day for 4/5 months just after coming off the dianette, and for 5 years now I have been clear, except of course 1 or 2 around my period........and plus I am also on the pill microgynon now which seems to be dealing with my skin fine!

If things do not improve, I think u should go back to your GP. I look back now and wish I came off dianette sooner as due to this I am now left with scars from the huge cysts I used to get

But beleive me things will get better

Love rach x x

Hey, when i first went on dianette (its similar to yasmin bcp but stronger) - the 1st 6 months my acne got a lot lot worse - before i went on it i had taken roacutane which cleared my skin up, but on the dianette my skin waas awful, however, i then started using cidal soap and kept on the dianette and my skin did clear up - it was perfect but then had to come of it after being on it 10 months cos i got severely depressed on it.
so it could be worth sticking with it - it will take a while for ur body to settle down on it - i'd say maybe stay on it for 3 or 4months then maybe try something else if u dont see an improvement, but i'd go back to see ur doc to see what he/she thinks.
good luck hun
xxxx
